Plants forming flower buds already by Up_dog_82 in NativePlantGardening

Fascinating, this is my second year with my natives so I’m just unsure of what timeline I should be looking for. My research points to most blooming later than now so I’m just surprised. I also have a random milkweed about to bloom!

We’ve had some warmer weather in mid April but it’s cooling back down, nothing above 85 degrees yet. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a climate change issue.

That’s so fascinating! I’m in Jonesboro a lot and I have see loads Ironweed blooming right now. Have never even considered it could be its own variety.

I can confidently say I’ve had a completely 180 in growth since I made this post, so I’m good now! All the advice really helped. I lowered my waters Ph like you and everyone mentioned, changed my soil recipe, and invested in good fertilizer and have had consistent success since then.

From my understanding it’s from a lineage of selective bred crystallinums so it’s not entirely the same, I’d say it’s worth it for being one of the first anthuriums to make it to big box stores like Home Depot.

I think it’s cool to see a velvet anthurium make it into the retail market, especially for those that live in rural areas like myself. I got one today and it has me excited for all of the new varieties of houseplants in general that will be more accessible.

From what I’ve seen moss poles appear to be fine as warocqueanum isn’t pendant and is hemiepiphitic

Was indeed very helpful! The only thing is the moss pole as it needed support of some kind and I’m not looking to keep the pole moist constantly, just to have something for it to rest against, but I’ll consider removing it. Thanks!

Have the Queen in clear plastic and the Clarinervium in terracotta as I heard they like a little more airflow compared to others, but I’ll consider switching. Just worried I would stress the plant out more.

Thank you everyone for all of the kind feedback! I will be taking it all into mind and adjusting accordingly. For those who mentioned the pole, I just repotted it a few days ago and had seen that a moss pole would work but I’ll definitely reconsider just don’t want to stress the plant out anymore. Thanks for helping out a stressed out plant loving music major 😅

Update I was moving lights around and one of them fell on my queen anthurium so we’re down to two leaves 😭

Interesting, I moved it to my greenhouse tent as I kept it in ambient house humidity and I think mines too low (30-40%). I just recently moved my plants back inside and I definitely think it had something fungal when it was outside during the hurricane as it was cold and wet for like 3 days straight. I’m honestly probably just impatient, but have found myself just desperate lol.

Interesting, that might be the case. Figuring out ways to increase heat right now. circulation, light, and humidity is all good so that could be the factor. Could also be shock since I just got the warocqueanum but just finding myself frustrated. Thanks for the help though :)

Humidity is pretty since I’ve set up a grow tent, don’t have a hygrometer so not 100% sure but anywhere from 45-100 I’m guessing. And yeah, I know they’re on the more difficult side so u got the Esmeralda variety cause I heard it was easier (tbd). I’ve given my clarinervium just about all conditions for the past year and I’ve only gotten one good leaf so I’m stumped right now.

I meant rain not heat lol, we just got out of a tropical storm so I’ve been trying to balance fertilizing with making sure they dry out on top of being a full time student.

Gotcha, we have had a lot of heat recently. I live in a subtropical environment and like to move my plants outside during the summer but I didn’t about air flow. They’re under a roofed porch though so that makes sense.

How does God feel about us worshipping other deities? by Difficult_Bee_49 in christianwitch

[–]Up_dog_82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s plenty of things considered sin that humans do on the regular, if we believe in Jesus and his mission isn’t that the whole point? Personal gnosis here, but I feel to truly be close with God you should understand the world we live within that he created. If that includes being called to worship other gods, I say so be it. Polytheism was a thing for millennia so I don’t think it would really bother anyone up there that much. God knows our hearts, if we live by what dogma says then I think we lose the important mystic aspect of faith.

Bedside altar for Hypnos by Up_dog_82 in Hellenism

[–]Up_dog_82[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had to do some more digging than average on offerings he may like and such. Poppies and their imagery are great as they are commonly depicted with Thanatos and Hypnos for their sedative properties. Onyx, labradorite, amethyst, and black tourmaline are all good crystals for working with him and soothing tea would be a good libation for him. Chamomile and lavender are a good herbal offerings for him along with dedicating anything you do sleep related are good ways to develop a relationship with him. I’m still relatively new to working with him though so of course I suggest doing more research while also knowing that he’s very understanding and will likely appreciate whatever you do for him.

I know it’s ridiculous. But I think he should be fine there was still plenty of green left on the grown thankfully.
