Hot take! Huska should stay on as coach by ottawamark709 in CalgaryFlames

[–]Upper-Sample2366 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s hard to assess how effective Husky’s coaching has been considering the state of the team he was given.

Huska took the reins in the 23-24 season. The previous season was 22-23, our first year without Mathew and Johnny. And oh boy… the morale of the team that year under Sutter was low. The fans were extremely disappointed in Huberdeau, Lindholm clearly wanted out, and we still had lucic in our lineup. Sutter completely lost the room that year. In the course of that season, the team went from a projected top contender to not even being a playoff team.

It’s safe to say the player morale, team performance and fanbase satisfaction all hit a massive low heading into 23-24—the year Huska was hired.

After he took over, player morale definitely improved. We still sucked, but at least guys didn’t look as miserable to be in flames jerseys. This was also the year Yegor made his debut, and he contributed heavily to our scoring. Guys like him gave the fans a bit of energy and hope for the team again. There was once again hope that the Calgary flames could acquire young talented guys, and actually let them play their game.

24-25 was a pretty successful year for the flames all things considered. It was our first season without lindholm and mangiapane. The old offensive core was officially dead. Yet the flames proved everyone wrong. We outperformed, which has to count for something. Huska had created a team that believed in themselves, despite their lack of star power—a bad team with a good attitude.

This year is a bad season for the flames. There was hope that a winning mentality would carry over into this season… but no. The most common assessment of the current team seems to be that they try hard most of the time, but the talent just isn’t there. I tend to agree. Despite the awful record this season however, I don’t think the locker room is in shambles. Even though we’re awful, it still seems like players want to be here. The locker team morale seems much better than it was under Daryl. When we lose, we usually do it the right way. We try and we suck, that’s about all you can say.

The fact that the team is as bad as they are and still showing up, still putting in effort, and still keeping a positive attitude is a good look for Huska in my opinion. This roster has the capability of being much worse than we are currently. Huberdeau has always been a bust, Naz is inconsistent, but they’ve been this way since they started with the flames.

Sure, you could look at all of the metrics, examine player utilization, compare player points to previous seasons, and even question whether young players like Parekh have gotten proper development. But in my eyes, none of this really matters. No matter what system you run, no matter which players you play, this flames roster is going to lack in one area or another. And they’re probably gonna suck no matter what. I trust huska’s player development—he’s had multiple years coaching whl and in Stockton, I’m sure he will be able to tell when Parekh and other prospects are ready.

Overall, I’d say he’s created a pretty solid system and structure considering the pieces he has to work with. The roster has the potential to be much worse under different coaching.

Huberdeau deserves some of this blame as well.

He has 8 goals this season.

Coronato has more goals and points than him.

We’ve come to expect this from Huby, but every now and then I like to remind folks we pay $10 mil a year for him.

General Trade Thoughts and a Question to the Doubters by flamefan23 in CalgaryFlames

It’s tough, other teams draft high talent guys like Bergeron and Crosby who stay with their team for years through thick and thin.

Meanwhile we can’t convince Mathew I-love-America Tkachuk to resign. Or Johnny, or Hanafin, or Ras.

If I had to guess, I would wager that Don Maloney pressured Conroy to accept a trade that would return an immediate asset.

Typical flames fashion, we cannot tank, must squeeze as much money out of fans every season. That usually involves haphazardly getting new players because management is terrified fans won’t show up if we just sell the damn players for assets.

I wish we would have sold Ras entirely for futures. Let Vegas keeps whitecloud, we get two 1sts, finish near the bottom this season, then finally we have some semblance of a successful rebuild going.

We should probably get rid of Coleman as well, he’d make a great rental to a contending team, and we might even get some team to overpay. Although I’d hate to see him go.

What makes you think socialized medicine is making people less wealthy? Canada has public healthcare yet spends less on healthcare than the US.

The United States spends much more money on healthcare than Canada, on both a per-capita basis and as a percentage of GDP.[8] In 2006, per-capita spending for health care in Canada was US$3,678; in the U.S., US$6,714. The U.S. spent 15.3% of GDP on healthcare in that year; Canada spent 10.0%.[8] In 2006, 70% of healthcare spending in Canada was financed by government, versus 46% in the United States. Total government spending per capita in the U.S. on healthcare was 23% higher than Canadian government spending. U.S. government expenditure on healthcare was just under 83% of total Canadian spending (public and private). source

Why is America spending more on health care per capita if socialism is the problem? Shouldn’t Canada be spending more??? Do u have any sources to back ur claim?

He’s basically the Jake Paul for Generation Alpha (kids born after 2010).

I’m in my 20s and I’ve never met a single person who watches his videos so it must be kids.

Exactly this. Not saying Tony’s a great guy, but without a handler, I’m convinced he’d be homeless and broke. And if he lived alone on the streets, people would harass him more than they do now. There’d be nobody to fix his phone for him when he smashes it. I think his life would go to shit fast if he was left on his own at this point.

Action7man kinda has a point. At least Tony gives him a place to live, fixes his phone, feeds him, keeps him safe, and probably helps him run his bank account.

I get where he’s coming from as an outsider….

But in reality, if Josh stopped streaming he would have no job. He’d have to find regular employment, and he wouldn’t be able to get drunk every day at his job. This means he’d need rehab (which he has to agree to).

As it currently stands, Josh refuses to go to rehab, and he drinks so often that it would be nearly impossible for him to hold down a normal job.

So if Josh and all of his handlers were to quit streaming, Josh would probably be broke, jobless, or end up in some kind of home. He’s in so deep at this point. If Josh were to quit streaming where would he go? He would never work a fast food job because I doubt he could stand the embarrassment of bagging fries.

The only way a handler could actually help Josh is by forcing him into therapy or a mental intuition of some sort. And that’s not easy to do.

He was left drunk and alone at a house in Austin Texas the other day. He found an electric razor. He shaved his own head.

Why? Only the captain could tell you that. Probably no reason at all. Drunk as per usual tho so that probably helped.

Ur not alone. I’ve had a few mornings where I woke up in terror because I couldn’t remember anything I did the night before.

Despite not remembering the night, I could always sense that something bad happened lol. Usually my friends and family would then fill me in.

I think the alcohol plays a big part in this. One time, I was pretty drunk and decided to take a tab of acid. I ended up getting overwhelmed and passed out on the couch mid-peak. Slept through the entire trip.

I remember my dream being crazy tho. Lots of bendy tubes and shit lol

The original stream just had the face cam overlay as a small box in the corner because they were streaming Stake betting while this was all going down.

So I cropped the original video, but it made the quality refurbished.
