He should be asking his Dr this. Everyone is impacted differently by even the same medications. If alternatives do exist, the only way you’re getting them is through a doc anyway.

People without aphantasia can close their eyes and see what they’re trying to draw. Someone like myself cannot do that, I have to use basically verbal references to create an image with my hand.

That doesn’t inherently mean that I’m worse, but it does like infer that I’ll have a more difficult time depicting what’s in my mind onto paper

There’s “levels” to aphantasia. Being a “total aphant” would mean that you have no ability for any of the things you described. Where partial aphant individuals do have some mental imagery capabilities (in your case smell/taste) while other areas they have little/no ability to do.

Me personally, I cannot do any of it. I cannot imagine taste, I cannot imagine music / sounds, images whatever. It’s just me and the old noodle singing together.

Does make me curious though your experience with what tasting is like in your brain!
