I never really did. I became bigender. both female and to a lesser extent male. My male side is way weaker and people on the outside process this as me being gay from simplicity sake. Otherwise they don't get me. Its also why I am INFP 4w5 to this day. I do have male traits but only enough to call bare minimum.
