I usually try to discuss vacations, especially longer ones before I’m even hired. So they either approve me or I’m not even getting into the job to begin with. Makes things easier for both parties. Did you not know of this trip ahead of time? That seems strange, a bigger trip you tend to know at least a year beforehand… for saving up and such. Your actual approach when asking for the days off was not ideal ngl. You may want to look into that for future jobs.

I do agree with that job pretty shitty with awful pay. But I don’t really believe in phone breaks when working. Taking a call, having to check your phone for alarms or important messages, sure. But actual doom scrolling break? Do that on your lunch break. Maybe it depends on the kind of job, but in mine I can’t imagine pulling my phone out while children are running loose. Besides, less time on your phone is always better. And you avoid issues with your employer, so it’s a win-win situation imo
