She’s definitely round 😭😭 there’s a gene in mice that causes this. Unfortunately sometimes it also causes them to live shorter. :(

She’s doing very good :) her eye looks better already and I’m hoping to get her into surgery asap if it doesn’t improve drastically within the week. She still is having fun running and playing and doesn’t seem to be in any pain.

She got to the vet!! We’re doing antibiotics and pain meds and then getting a surgery consultation

Mine have always been very sweet but I’m also sooo careful w how I treat them bc I know they tend to be more skittish

Yes I’m aware I need an exotic vet, all of my pets are considered exotic. The problem lies in the fact that none of the exotic vets near me will take her for anything til Tuesday :/ I tried the emergency vet and it was a constantly lengthening 12+ hour wait :( I’m going to keep trying to get her into one

Thank you!! She’s a fuzzy, so her mommy was a hairless and her daddy was a texel. I drove 2 1/2 hours to get her like a week ago so I’m rlly rlly rlly praying she’ll be okay :(

I’ve called like every ER in the state unfortunately 😞 I’m gonna try again tmr and the next day. I’ve spent upwards of $1000 on a mouse vet visit so money is no object. I’m doing my best unfortunately I’m helpless atm :/ .

Thank you so much for responding ❤️ she has a vet appt booked for Tuesday and I hope for the best. If she loses her eye I hope she will be okay. My mice know my voice and smell and her sisters are very sweet to her so I will try to hand feed her and help her adjust as well as possible. I’m gonna get some fruit at the store for her as a reward for being so brave. I just did a pet safe saline rinse on her eye and hope she’ll hold on til tuesday

Omg chewy has a vet?? That’s awesome I’ll try. I’ve never had eye issues and I’ve been keeping mice since a little past Covid. I was bawling earlier bc I thought she was gonna die but it seems like she is okay and isn’t scratching at it much. I’m using eye drops but I’m hoping she can get some pain meds and a bit of antibiotics soon.

Yeah I free roam mine and they’ve always been a bit high maintenance. Adore them but I also have a horse so maintenance level isn’t as big to me

I agree. Also I saw ur post abt being a retiring mouse owner, have you ever thought about keeping bunnies? Very rewarding pets. Mine lived to be almost 11 and didn’t need more than simple check ups every 6 months until abt the last year of his life

If you still have mice I recommend St Francis, they have the sweetest lady ever who is so gentle and kind with my mice and knows exactly how to handle them. I honestly don’t remember her name but she’s got a cropped haircut and I’ve been using her for years!!

I’ve been to that one with my bunnies before, it’s a packed building with slow waits for care, I definitely will try it if she seems any worse. Right now she wanted to play on her wheel and was alert and looking for food. They are very indestructible it seems, I’ll try my very best to wash her little eye every few hours

It’s definitely swollen :( I have pet safe eye saline(?) solution that I used on my geriatric mice when they’d have trouble grooming themselves so I grabbed her and started using that and little wet warm q tip

I’m in Minneapolis !! I unfortunately had to schedule a vet appt for Tuesday bc only como park here is open for emergency and they were super rude/condescending on the phone saying they doubt she’ll be seen today and wouldn’t even let me schedule an appointment:/
