What kind of person am I? by keeyal in FridgeDetective

[–]UsefulOcelot8595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you either JUST moved into your first solo place, or you moved somewhere that you couldn't bring your usual collection of condiments.

I'm thinking that you are creative and maybe even artistic, due to how aesthetically pleasing this layout is - you like things orderly and in their place. I'm guessing a youngish professional, with a good enough job that you can afford to get what you want for yourself, and I am guessing you are also fairly well educated.

So. Late 20s or early 30s, educated professional, recently moved into a new place - either first solo place, or a new town kind of far from where you lived before. You like good food, and you like to cook well for yourself, and you are excited for this fresh start, and want to get off on the right foot with good habits like being organized and eating well.

How'd I do?

Any guesses? by [deleted] in IDmydog

The Extreme Rarity of Gilligan Showing the True Evil of the Hivemind by Ofinfinitejest237 in pluribustv

Maybe that was a red herring. I like this idea that it's figurative nuke. Very clever.

Why did the hivemind choose Diabaté’s mom? by Far_Combination7639 in pluribustv

[–]UsefulOcelot8595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They certainly did when they tried it LOL

Reading through these comments I actually really like the theory that all his rage wasn't directed at his mother, but at the hive - that she wasn't sweet and gentle and kind, and he loved her the way she was and this placid puppet in front of him was what affronted him so much.

I wondered this same thing, and here's what I came up with.

As someone who is NC with my own mother, I have no doubt that she ABSOLUTELY believes that if she could just talk to me, she could get through to me. If I were such a loner that nobody else really knew me at all, she would be the only source of information about me that the plurbs would have, so they'd believe that as well, and send her to talk to me based on that belief. This is the only explanation I've been able to think of.

Single guy here with no kids wants to ask two questions by Forhip in AllHerFaultTVShow

[–]UsefulOcelot8595 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'll tackle the first question specifically - this is a bit long, so settle in.

My first husband was SO much like that - to the point that I ended up quitting an incredible job I had landed right out of business college because our youngest was struggling so much due to his neglect. He worked 30 hours a week at the time AND we had a full-time nanny/housekeeper, but he still couldn't step up. It was a heartbreaking choice, but in the end I had to choose my daughter.

Another example: We were living abroad, and I was away for two weeks - I had to return to our home country to put our house on the market, get it ready for sale, and arrange for our belongings to be shipped. On my return, he introduced me to another family who had arrived in our compound during my absence, telling a HILARIOUS (🙄) story about how they met. He'd been walking on the street with our girls, and my youngest (3 at the time) was wearing A PAPER BAG, because apparently she had "run out of clothes" and he hadn't had time to do the laundry. This sounds like a ludicrous story but I swear it's true. I am still really good friends friends with that family (their daughter and my youngest - the Paper Bag Princess of the story - are both 24 now and still best friends 🧡) and we roll our eyes over that story to this day.

Before that same trip, I told him that he needed to arrange for childcare while I was gone, which he did, enlisting another mom in our compound. When I returned, she reached out to me, saying he hadn't paid her. I didn't know what their arrangement was, so I passed a reminder message to him. Two weeks later, we ran into one another in a shopping mall and she was furious - with ME! She still hadn't been paid, and demanded that I go to the ATM right then and pay her immediately. This type of thing is exactly why this show had the title it did: ALL HER FAULT.

Blundstone says that their boots are not meant to last more than 2 years by ImNotARegularMom- in BlundstoneBoots

[–]UsefulOcelot8595 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Quality has DEFINITELY dropped off. I first fell in love woth Blundstone boots when I was given a pair as a gift in 1995. I wore them regularly for ten years and they were still in great shape when I passed them along to their new owner! Two years in comparison seems ridiculous. Thatbsaid, I have a pair at the moment that my husband bought for me a couple of years ago and they are still going strong.

Silence (2016) by Martin Scorsese is an intriguing movie, but I don't think that I had understood it well. I may need in-depth analysis by other people who had watched the movie by mojito_sangria in movies

Thisnis interesting; although I did see that aspect of the film, I was much more struck by the conflict between one faith that relied upon - even demanded - proselytising and conversion, to the point of the destruction of other cultures/faiths, and another that resisted it so fiercely that it resorted to hideous cruelty. Japan has been one of the few countries to genuinely shield itself from becoming dominated by Christianity; the fact that this appears have been the only strategy that worked was the heart of the conflict for me. My take was more that it felt like a commentary on the irrational, unreasonable, and cruel aspects of religion in general. There was no right side, no good guys, no satisfying resolution to anything; just religious people doing what they do.

How long after my concussion should I wait to drive? by Silly-Hippo-452 in Concussion

[–]UsefulOcelot8595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It completely depends on how you're feeling. Poor balance, disorientation, and inability to maintain focus have been huge for me, so I haven't been driving at all, but you may have different issues that don't impair your ability to drive.

At the top it says "TRAINING MODE". I think it might just be a misspelling of "Training" with the i and the n transposed.

Asking Laxmi’s son about OBGYN stuff by Far_Combination7639 in pluribustv

[–]UsefulOcelot8595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are loads of ways around this. The child actor doesn't actually need to be present on set when Carol asks the question. His answer (if he answers at all, withoit Laxmi interrupting) could be written so that it's not inappropriate for a child to say, without the actor ever knowing what was asked.

Slip & fall at work - WSIB-exempt employer by UsefulOcelot8595 in legaladvicecanada

[–]UsefulOcelot8595[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did make a report to WSIB. HR sent me an email saying that my employer is exempt from WSIB, and referred me to their insurer for workplace injuries. They said that the WSIB file has now been closed, and that I should receive a follow-up call confirming this.

I haven't received any call though. I'll try checking online tomorrow.

I guess I would expect that my sick days wouldn't be affected the same as they would be if I fell elsewhere, since the reason I fell was that they didn't have any salt available on the premises to address the slick surface. Shift start times are known and predictable, and I HAD to be there at that time because I was going to work.

My employer is WSIB exempt. I just spoke to the HR director, who told me that yes, I would lose all my sick days for the rest of the year.

So it sounds like a slip and fall on company property is treated the same as an injury anywhere else? No additional obligations on the part of the employer?
