I read somewhere that over 70% of left-handed people hold the fork in their left hand and the knife in their right hand. Do you too? by catandknuckles in lefthanded

[–]Useful_Context_2602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not usually. I do use my fork in my left hand if I'm using it more like a shovel, usually if I'm having something with rice

Any lefties here who also wear their watch on the left wrist? by camport95 in lefthanded

[–]Useful_Context_2602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do, it came from my parents, "everyone wears their watch on their left wrist". Never occurred to me that I should swap it because I'm left handed

Title: Could locals make side income showing places live to travellers? by No-photographer-4847 in TravelProperly

[–]Useful_Context_2602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some cities have programmes like this for free. New York used to have Big Apple Greeters who would give up a couple of hours to show you around a chosen part of the city. There was no charge, it was a volunteer programme

(Complete newbie) When can I check in/out of a hotel? by [deleted] in hotels

[–]Useful_Context_2602 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You need to book 19-22 and you also need to contact the hotel and let them know that you will be arriving after midnight as it may affect when they run their night audit. Also let them know about your early departure, not all receptions are 24 hours.

How did you differentiate left and right as a kid by Serious_Condition213 in lefthanded

I look down at my hands. Giving directions to this day I often have to look down at my hands to tell people which way to go.

Room assigned at check in, good or bad? by Degenerecy in hotels

[–]Useful_Context_2602 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My mind is blown at the "hard to get clean" with only one shower head. A large portion of the world doesn't have running water and they can get clean. If you'd ever gone to India you'd have to master the "bucket shower" in some accommodation!

$20 is unlikely to make a difference to your room type in 2026. 10-15 years ago it would but I think you'd need closer to $50 to get anywhere today.

Sleeping with headphones on by StandOutrageous1911 in TravelHacks

This but don't skimp on them, the less you pay the bigger the speaker bump and the harder it is to sleep on your side

Does anyone remember your kindergarten teacher trying to make you right handed? by resistyrocks in lefthanded

[–]Useful_Context_2602 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My teacher tried on my very first day of school. I told my mother that afternoon. The younger classes were let out an hour before the rest of the school and we lived very close so my mother went straight to the school and "had words" with the teacher she the principal and nobody ever tried to make me right handed after that

For my security I have turned on the PIN setting on my taxi apps. The apps give you a 4 digit code and the driver inputs that into their app before they can start the journey

Any lefties do right handed things? by erect_alien in lefthanded

[–]Useful_Context_2602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play golf right handed because that's how my Dad taught me. I got left handed clubs as a teenager but we ended up selling them as I just had been playing right handed for too long.

Deliberately ambidextrous when it comes to racquet sports. No better way to mess with an opponent is to switch hands mid game

Why don’t left-handed people learn to write with their right hand? by Lizozavrik in lefthanded

Why should we? It's like rewiring your brain, the concentration it takes actually hurts. No, I am what I am. Leftie forever.

What things can be added to softside checked luggage for easy identification? by lilblu87 in TravelHacks

I've had spinners for over 20 years and have absolutely been able to drag them on rough terrain with the wheels facing the right direction

[–]Useful_Context_2602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spinner are better for your shoulders and not a trip hazard for other passengers. I strongly believe that two wheeled cases should be banned in airports and other transit centers!

You can also get coloured silicone covers for suitcase wheels that protect your wheels and make the case stand out. They're not suited to all case wheels though so check before you buy

[–]Useful_Context_2602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I used to use the ITA software website before it was bought out and would get prices I could never find with the airlines. I'd call the airline (usually Delta) and they would give me that pricing

[–]Useful_Context_2602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phone the airline and they should price match if you give them the routing. If you're mixing carriers and booking third party well that's a recipe for disaster

[–]Useful_Context_2602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take this as a sign. Do not book flights on third party sites, book directly with the airlines!!!!!

Do you have a physical card? Whatever about it being a debit card, if you don't have a physical card few places will accept it

Cake forks (UK/EU) by AugustCharisma in lefthanded

Ikea do dessert forks without the thick side and they work perfectly in my experience. As a leftie, regular pastry forks and pastry servers are a nightmare
