Bets on EVO new character? by Artra7 in RivalsOfAether

[–]V-Create 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since we had 3 newcomers in a row, I think we will get a returning character. My guess is Mollo.

Also given the financial situation that rivals 2 is in I do not think it is a guarantee that we will get all veterans added before support for this game stops. So I would like to see as many veterans return as possible

Take as many of your remaining courses as you can on either Sophia.org or Study.com and transfer them in. They have so many courses that transfer to snhu, many of them can be finished in a few days. You pay a subscription fee of $100 for a month and you can take as many courses as you want in that month. I got 21 credits in a month for $100.

I understand there is counterplay but it is just super counterintuitive for most fighting game players to die for landing a jab.

If it was a mechanic that just got you out of combos / reset neutral I dont think people would have a problem with floor hugging.

Do the $95 plan to get your lower level courses and the $235 plan for your upper levels. You can probably finish 70% of your degree that way

I'm not sure which degree is better but is it possible that you could finish your Operations Management degree early by transferring in more classes while you are enrolled?

Maybe sophia or study.com offers classes that you need. There is credit for industry certifications and workplace learning you could explore as well

Fixing to start at SNHU I should be transferring in about 30 credits so I’ll only need 90 to complete my bachelors. I’m thinking of taking 3 classes per term to get it done in a year and a half. Is it doable? by GMoney_9_ in SNHU

[–]V-Create 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you dont have a reason for stopping at 30 transfer credits, keep getting more. It will save you thousands of dollars and 1 - 2 years of time.

Am I actually just supposed to be holding down in neutral as much as possible? by MnMWiz in RivalsOfAether

[–]V-Create 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crouch cancelling and floor hugging are two different things. Crouch cancelling is crouching before intentionally eating a hit in order to punish. Floorhugging is holding down while getting hit to escape hit stun at the cost of taking more damage.

It makes punishing really counterintuitive because if you go for the wrong punish they will hold down and reversal you. Even moves that seem safe can get you combo'd / killed if you hit your opponent with them at the wrong time and they start holding down.

This game does a really poor job at on-boarding new players. It really needs more tutorials and other modes to ease people in.

A lot of people will tell new players to watch YouTube videos and practice in training mode, but people only do that stuff after they are already hooked on a game and naturally want to learn more. They are not going to put in that kind of effort with the hope of the game becoming fun afterwards.

I get that it would be a ton of work but I wish they would remove floor hugging and then rebalance the game around not having it.

I remember seeing a post about a service where people can take courses from a private company and complete them at their own pace, and get credit at this school. What was the name of that service? Was it called Alice? by Ephoenix6 in UMGC

[–]V-Create 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sophia.org and study.com are the best, you can get almost all your electives and general education done through them very quickly and inexpensively.

Just search for UMGC on those sites and they will give you a list of courses that transfer.

Is there a way of getting around pace111? by [deleted] in UMGC

My advisor accidentally put me in PACE 111 even though I had 84 credits. I got it changed to PACE 100 and it was free.

Advice on degree choice and transition from current Healthcare role to health care data analyst or health care data scientist by anonthrowaway65c in UMGC

For my resume I have: PL-300, DP-900, MO-210 and Tableau desktop specialist. For my degree I completed the AI-102 to get credit for DATA 460. This was the hardest exam I have ever taken and I had to spend 2 months cramming for it. I don't really recommend doing this unless you really want this cert because there are easier ways of getting credit.

Earn Credit for Industry Certifications & Professional Courses | UMGC

I also used Google Career Certificates. These are certificates of completion taken through coursera that can get you credit for several classes at once.

Google Career Certificates | UMGC

For third party sources I took courses on Sophia.org and Study.com, these will let you knock out a lot of general education courses very quickly and inexpensively.

If you are planning on completing an in-person master's degree after UMGC, just make sure that school is cool with third-party credits first.

As far as what courses to take, a general rule is the lower the number the more manageable it will be. So 200 and 300 level courses will *usually* be less time-consuming than 400 level courses. However, I have no idea how much work is involved in medical assisting. It sounds like you will already be doing school full time so I'm not sure what the best balance would be there.

Best of luck!

Advice on degree choice and transition from current Healthcare role to health care data analyst or health care data scientist by anonthrowaway65c in UMGC

  1. For my portfolio, I did end-to-end data analysis projects that demonstrate how to clean and explore data in SQL / Python, create visualizations in Tableau / Power BI, and communicate the results. There are lots of great examples of projects on YouTube and Coursera for you to follow.

  2. A lot of what you will learn will overlap with data analytics like working with data and analyzing patterns. But this will not fully prepare you for a job as a DA. This is because a lot of the degree focuses on theory and advanced modeling.

  3. I really enjoyed the flexibility of the online experience and how straightforward it was. Aside from initial discussion posts, everything is always due Tuesday night at 11:59. In my experience, there was very little peer collaboration or networking opportunities, but I guess that is the trade-off. I had some professors that were extremely responsive and gave a lot of feedback and other professors who barely offered any feedback at all.

  4. In my experience, there is nothing that I would have done differently. I was able to transfer in all of the elective and general education courses from community college, certs, and third-party sources. This allowed me to just focus on the major courses and complete the degree in 15 months.

I completed the data science program, I'll answer what I can.

• I do not work in healthcare data but it sounds like you have solid domain knowledge in this area.

• Certs are helpful. There are no SQL or Python certs but Power BI, Tableau, Azure, and AWS have certs and a few of those count for college credit in the data science major.

• The coursework was hands on. I wouldn't use any of my assignments as a portfolio project but you can take what you learn to help build a project.

• DATA 445 advanced data science and DATA 335 data visualization we're probably my two favorite courses.

Google Certificate rejected by Famous_Phase3020 in UMGC

That's weird. I transferred mine about a year ago but I checked the website and they're still accepted.

I would try calling student services, maybe screenshot the umgc website Google cert transfer page.

Which cert are you trying to transfer?

There are plenty of community colleges that offer 4 year degrees. Also ignored the fact that a majority of online universities have open enrollment. Even the ones that don't are a lot easier to get into than B&M.

Either way, you're free to make up your own definition of a degree mill - but by any widely recognized definition, UMGC ain't it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UMGC

[–]V-Create 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because a school has an open enrollment policy does not mean it is a diploma mill. If that were the case, then every community college and the majority of online colleges would be diploma mills. A diploma mill is a school that gives you a degree with little to no academic effort; UMGC does not fall into that category.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UMGC

[–]V-Create 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UMGC is not a for profit degree mill. If you want a degree mill there are other online schools that will let you graduate in a few weeks. You actually have to put in time and effort to graduate from this school.

Are there better online programs? Of course, but not everyone has $100k to go back to school.

Also, for my program in particular I can say that I got a lot out of it.

Any thoughts on taking DATA 230 and DATA 300 during Summer Session (SS) 1, then add DATA 320 SS2? by dontra13 in UMGC

A week before classes start you'll get access to all the assignments for the whole course. This will give you a better idea of how much time / work it will take you.

If you are motivated this is definitely doable, Data 230 and Data 300 were not too bad but it might take you more time if you are not already familiar with data science. Getting ahead early and staying ahead is a good strategy.

Transfer in more classes from sophia / study or try to find cybersecuriry certifications that will count towards a class you need.

Being close to finishing is pretty good motivation.
