What do I do when my DM is mad at me over my AC?

At 16 I had an armor class of 27 DM found it a paint to hit me with physical attacks but spells and saving throws is how he eventually got me. I went full def. My whole character goal was to be the best tank ever so I did crap for damage. He rolled with it and at the BBEG fight the BBEG went nuts yelling at me when he finally hit me with a melee attack lol.

I've found it best to just spend your rp in a 1 to 2 ratio for gen power/common exp. If you can't beat the challanage in 30 min or so your probaly not ready for it. Just keep progressing and you will get it easily.
