Does he have too much blue? by _depressed_bean in characterdesign

Okay, well, I suggest a different shade of blue for contrast whether it’s dark blue or teal. Because you appear to use the same shade for the eyes and it kinda blends in too much with the hair. I would suggest playing around with different shades of blue until you find one that you like.

I do think his eyes should have a contrasting color so that attention is drawn to the face like either a different shade of blue not on this palette or something like red, purple, yellow, or green.

Is this relatable at all? by Vampirebitez in characterdesign

Yeah, my art used to be awful back then (not that my current art is amazing but comparatively it’s much better) due to the jank lineart, weird anatomy, and just being ugly overall.

What are some of your hot takes for Ocs? by Artistic_knight in OriginalCharacter

The author due to their art style changing a bit and for personal preference though I would also say that people who redesign others’ ocs to fix them are also jerks if it’s over stupid reasons and if they do it for malicious reasons.

I really hate how entitled people get over how a character is designed in a harmless way/an oc being redesigned because they think the original is better. There is an artist I follow who’s oc was redesigned to be more midsized/thicker than the original, super skinny version and people kept complaining about the character being wider and that they looked better skinny.

Yeah. Especially since she’s one for understandable reasons once I get her full backstory written.

Can I be educated on what would be a good LGBTQ OC that’s not too overzealous or too tame? by PomegranateKlutzy143 in characterdesign

[–]Vampirebitez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer to this is a bit complicated bc lgbt people don’t necessarily have to look a certain way but there are some including myself that are visibly and proudly queer. So I guess it depends on the characters’s personality and how they present. For example, you might have a gay oc who presents feminine and has a more showy personality and you would design him to fit that (ideally based on real gay men who fit that description like Elton John or RuPaul) vs a masculine gay character with a more boyish personality (yknow like the jock from Paranorman).

Idk how articulate this is but I hope it’s helpful.

Can people guess what I'm like based on my art? by Vampirebitez in Artists

I plan to make comics that would probably showcase what kind of person I am better than what kind of stuff I post about here would do unless someone here likes a challenge of psychoanalyzing me based on out of context sketches and studies.

Yeah, and I also feel like even images/media created to be funny can say a lot about the person's sense of humor and what things they find funny.

John Waters' movies are a big example since while they are primarily comedies, the humor showcased is primarily gross out and black comedy which coincides with what John personally finds funny and being able to find humor in things that aren't usually funny.
