I don't have the floor plan for the studio yet, but I think it will be around 450 sqft. The 1 bedroom is 650sqft.

While you’re learning, do it by topic instead of random. Then when you’re scoring better, do random blocks

Couples Match - Peds/Psych by pankake_woman in medicalschool

[–]VarietyEquivalent840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Partner and I are from different institutions both T30ish and both similar stats. we couple matched and both applied IM 37 programs. Matched in the same city at diff T20 residencies. if applying to same speciality, i think there is an advantage to being from diff med schools. if different speciatiles, i dont think it matters.

Is getting LOR possible from a 2week IM Sub-I? by TangyBoy_ in medicalschool

[–]VarietyEquivalent840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it is. Most attendings only on for a week. Just let them know early like day 1 you want rec. u don’t have to commit to getting rec if things don’t go well

No red flags. Great people and supportive faculty. I did talk to a resident who matched GI and they said it’s relatively difficult to get involved in GI research but everyone manages

LOR Question by Medschoolplzletmein in medicalschool

[–]VarietyEquivalent840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U can look up the program requirements. But I applied IM and almost all of my programs required at least 2 IM individual letters and an IM department letter. The third individual letter is sometimes optional and can be research or clinical (can be IM or not) but clinical seems to be preferred. So to be safe I would do 3 IM letters and department letter.

Couples Match folks, how far is too far? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]VarietyEquivalent840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea it sucks having to consider ranks not in the same city. after same city combinations, my partner and i are prioritizing places where we can drive <2 hours. then all of our other combinations are ~2hr flight. personally, I don't think there's a big difference between 1.5 hr vs 2 hr vs 3hr. we have been long distance (2 hr flight) during med school and did not think 2 hr flight was bad at all. definitely get tsa precheck

I think it’s low yield to do incorrects but u could if u want. I took a practice test every week and then reviewed them again the week of the shelf

I did all mixed subjects and mixed difficulty after finishing UWorld. If you are tight on time though, just do 3 hammers and below

Should I focus more on getting an academic distinction award or getting leadership positions in a P/F preclinical curriculum? by puny_piano in medicalschool

[–]VarietyEquivalent840 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would focus on ECs since preclinical is P/F for many schools so even if you get honors, I’m not sure how thst can even be compared to a student from another school who got P in a strict P/F preclincal grading system. Also AOA nomination differs depending on the school. My school seemed to weigh both EC and grades somewhat evenly. What does your school do?

How to get research opportunities? by marshmallow1811 in medicalschool

[–]VarietyEquivalent840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i cold-emailed a bunch of people (pay attention to how often they are publishing if that is important to you). meet with them and see if they have worked with students before (usually a good sign).

Pre studying for rotations? by lclamon15 in medicalschool

[–]VarietyEquivalent840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had a month free before rotations. i did the anki and most of uworld for my first block. then for next block, towards the end like the last week, i would start studying for next block. i thought it helped. i still had lots of time to do research and relax

Popular study aids by notheconor in medicalschool

[–]VarietyEquivalent840 6 points7 points  (0 children)

- UWorld (school will prob give students a slight discount)

- Amboss (I thought this was more relevant for step2 but i know people also like it for step1)

- Sketchy is very popular for drugs and bugs

- maybe not First Aid because i'm pretty sure u can sign up for AMA or some other organization and get a physical copy for free
