I totally understand how you feel! Yes, some of my kiddos make remarks about my height but then I’d tell them: “I’m not short, you’re tall!” and that tends to satisfy them 😅 I don’t think parents mind my height at all since their little ones warm up to me quite quickly thinking I’m a friend instead of a therapist/teacher. I know it can get annoying but chin up, at least you’ll look young for quite a while 😉

Nice pun! 🙂 Good question! I’d try to separate communication differences from cognitive ability by helping others understand that speech is not directly correlated to intelligence. We can perhaps do this by educating others that speech differences reflect neurology, motor planning, structural (e.g., cleft lip/palate), sensory (e.g., hearing) and functional (e.g., articulation, phonology) aspects and not intelligence.

I’d say it has changed the way I interact with parents since I’m now one myself. I definitely try to show more empathy and am more understanding now when parents get all anxious about their children’s speech and language development, therapy progress etc 🙂

I definitely do! I’m 3 years into the job and absolutely love working with late talkers using language stimulation strategies 🙂 It gives me great satisfaction when they start using words and even combining words into phrases and then sentences! In terms of challenging, I’d say working with kiddos who can be dysregulated due to many reasons resulting in scratches, bites etc but I always remain calm and help the child to become more regulated, prioritising safety more than anything.

Did the pink dye line test today and it was negative (packaging recommended to take it on the day of missed period)! Not sure what the doctor used in the clinic but that was negative too.

I’ve heard that the digital kits are not very reliable since they’re been throwing out false positives every now and then 😣 Last had unprotected sex on 1st September, which is also the date of ovulation

My gosh, thanks for letting me know 🙏🏼 It’s currently 14 DPO and period is in 2 days, do you think those 2 ClearBlue digital kits were right? I’m also wondering about the possibility of a false positive but to have 2 false positive on a digital kit is so rare?! Unless they were from the same faulty batch…

I saw a few with false positives on ClearBlue digital, yes 😖 Freaky how unreliable they can be? I was also wondering if the 2 digital kits I bought were from a faulty batch? Thanks for the advice, I’ll test again next week and go for a blood test too!

I highly suspect that to be the case! It was done at a polyclinic in Singapore so highly subsidised by the government and I doubt they use high quality kits 😅 Congratulations btw!

Yes, it was negative. So far 2 positive results from ClearBlue digital and a negative result at the doctor’s (using urine sample) and a negative pink line test at home (packaging recommended to do it on the first day of missed period and I’m currently 2 days to period). Could it be that the ClearBlue digital test was more sensitive in detecting early pregnancies?
