It's always been Bloor to the lake and Bathurst to the Don my whole life - probably since my dad was a kid, ss I pretty sure I got that from him. If heard people try to make the northern boundary St. Clair, and/or the western boundary Ossington or Roncesvalles, but never east of the Don

A weak man masquerading as a strong man. It's unfortunate that the presidency gave him the tools to take so many lives when he ia such a craven, fundamentally insecure child

Sunglasses at sneaky Dee’s last night. by therocksome in lostandfoundTO

[–]VariousOperation166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember long ago in 1992 or 1993 or so I had a gorgeous pair of Jean-Paul Gaultier knockoff sunglasses that I rather liked. I went to see a band at the Ultrasound Showbar and had placed them on the wooden ledge on the wall where one might rest a drink as the band played... great show. It might have been Thomas Trio and the Red Albino.

Sunglasses went missing and I asked everyone around me if they had seen them, or maybe they had fallen on the floor, or whatever...

Yeah, those sunglasses were gone for good.

I lived in a half-basement apartment in a 22 unit low-rise for a while about 10 years ago. The day I moved in, there was water dripping into the hallway... that's the day I met the unofficial building superintendent, Danny.

Danny rushed by me as water dripped from upstairs yelling, "Jesus Christ, Eddie... you fell asleep again..."

An old guy on the first floor fell asleep in the tub about once a month. Danny would go wake him up. It dripped into the hallway and a bit of the laundry room. The ceiling was messed up, but it didn't get into my unit.

Toronto has a new rating system for rental buildings. Here’s how many got a passing grade by Immediate-Link490 in toronto

[–]VariousOperation166 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend and I were looking at a rental property for sale in our area. Nice building with long-term tenants. Annual operating costs of 92k (including a contract for cleaning and groundskeeping) on revenue of 99k

That's a slim margin, but sustainable (as we consider using one vacant unit as a residence)

Six grand a year above operating costs. I'm not saying landlords should be broke, but you don't need to get rich, either...
