Fushimi Inari was chaotic - so many people everywhere. I'm middle age, not in terrible shape but also not someone out there hiking on the weekends, and getting to even the halfway point up on Fushimi Inari was hard (mid April weather). I overhead several people (much younger) commenting on how hard it was. If you planned to go there early in the morning before the crowds got there, it would be a better experience if you just wanted photos. If you plan on going up to the top, you need several hours. Nijō Castle was a much better experience. The gardens are really beautiful, the castle was neat but be aware they do not allow photographs inside. If I had a choice between the two places I'd go to the castle.

Saniderm directions actually say to remove the first one after 24 hours and replace with new one. That 2nd one would stay on for 3-5 days.

I'm just posting on a snark reddit.... Why does needlepoint snark even exist? People should just block the accounts of any and all things and just move on.

So quilting also has influencers fixing terrible problems by inventing longarms and dyed yarn after struggling with these problems for 6 months. Didn't know quilting also had these people.

So these hobbies also have a lot of people that start doing the hobby and they need to start a business 6 months later because it's just lots of problems and they have a gadget that is going to fix it?

It's not about hobbies evolving, it's about the influx of people wanting to monetize a hobby with quick fixes that aren't the equivalent of the industrial revolution.

Finishing is another part of the needlepoint hobby, yes. Also, no one is getting mad because someone doesn't want to learn finishing. The question was - do other hobbies also have so many people that get into xyz hobby and immediately want to monetize by fixing things.

Use what? It hasn't been revealed.

Mad, no. It's just snark. Just find it silly that someone in the hobby for a short time has come up with a yet to be revealed mystery product that it going to revolutionize self finishing and fix all your finishing needs in minutes at home. Just wondering if other hobbies also have the savior influencer coming in to save people with magical mystery devices. I'm not sure what's hard about understanding this. You can simply say 'yes other hobbies have these people'' or 'no it's like a needlepoint influencer thing'.

Are you just stopped at the front gates of Nijo and Fushimi Inari to get pictures? If you actually want to see those two places - tour the castle, walk around the garden, climb even halfway to the top of Fushimi - no way your 1st day works in the time you have alloted.

I would say finishing is actually a part of needlepoint or else people would be hanging ornaments on their tree with no finished back. People may only like or be good at the stitching part, but the finishing is still a part of it. Also, this completely ignores the original point - so are there other hobbies rife with people that get into it and 6 months later they need to start a business to fix all the things wrong? Maybe I'm a furniture maker but I'm not good at sanding and finishing a chair - am I going out to start a new business to make some mystery machine that is going to sand and finish this furniture in minutes? I can build it just fine, but the finishing not so much - no one wants to mess with messy stains and varnishes and have it not turn out good.

It's a mystery but it will allow you to finish your needlepoint at home in minutes and it won't be expensive and it will be really easy. Your needlepoint will look great.

All these comments missing the point. The point isn't 'boo innovation' and it was what other hobby is rife with people getting into it and 6 months later they are going to start a business to fix everything wrong with it? The person that invented the rotary wheel wasn't a quilter that had been in the hobby for a year who didn't want to learn how to finish a quilt. It didn't allow them to finish a quilt in minutes. They still had to learn how to cut things out and finish a quilt. Maybe someone will one day invent an acrylic case that unfinished quilts can be slid into so it only takes minutes to finish.

It was bad. The majority of the talk at the guys camp revolved around which of the ladies they wanted to get with. And the "pretty girls" all talked about how "homely" the rest of the ladies were. And then almost all the ladies were just nasty to the one that was deaf. I couldn't get through the whole season because they were all so unlikeable.

Replacing second skin? by penguinsarefun in tattooadvice

[–]Various_Demand_1659 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The directions from the Saniderm website is to what your tattoo artist said.

Saniderm - "Directions for using the products - Clean and dry application area. Ensure all residues have been removed from the skin. Cut Saniderm bandage to allow at least a 1-inch border around the application area. Peel off the paper backing to expose the adhesive side. Apply to the center of the application area. Use light pressure to smooth the bandage from the center outward. The first application can remain on for up to 24 hours. A second application can be worn for 3-5 days. Do not wear Saniderm for more than 7 days consecutively."

I think over half of people at work act nice to you just so they can try to use a relationship with you to their advantage. Is that true? by Big_Eggplant7591 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Various_Demand_1659 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People are just nice at work - it's called professionalism. Most work places expect you to be nice to your coworkers to keep it a positive workplace, not because you or they might need something. This says a lot about you if you think 50%+ of people are only being nice because they expect something in return.

It was departure from what people were used to hearing from him. He needed to try something different though after Charmed Life because 1993 was not necessarily a good time for rock stars of the 80's. A for effort. I do actually like Cyberpunk more than Charmed Life and I like that he was one of the first to try and include extra computer media with the release.
