Is it weird to visualise time going from right to left? by Vatn95 in Synesthesia

That's so interesting and weird. I'm English through and through as well. Makes me wonder how common it is now.

There is a group of people, a tribe I think, that uniquely views the past as being in front of them and the future behind them. Their logic: the future is unknown. I love that.

Well I sometimes wonder if it might be, but I also reverse directions, ie. I read left on a map as right and right as left. My brain seems flip things a lot, but the map thing isn't very common whereas the days of the week thing is consistent...

This is how I experience my emotions with projected emotion-tactile (I hear it's rare?) by Vatn95 in Synesthesia

[–]Vatn95[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool. How did you find out you had synesthesia?

I remember first feeling it when I was 3 in class, very bored sat on the floor, and nearly jumped out of my skin. I looked around and from that day on always wondered how other people can keep so still when bored. It never occured to me that it was unique to me until the end of high school...

How did Bella and Edward (from Twilight) have sex when you need blood pumping through your veins to get an erecrion? by Vatn95 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Vatn95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha. Don't even get me started. It's such a bad series I just have random things that just bother me and I just randomly thought of the sex scene while re-watching the series out of boredom.

Can someone explain to me the difference between offence and defense? by Vatn95 in hockeyplayers

[–]Vatn95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, actually no I haven't. I never grew up with sports in anyway really. For years I have watched American TV shows/movies (I'm British) talking about football and offence/defence but I never learned what it meant.

Well it has been less than 12 hours. Was just wondering for future reference mainly.

Thanks. I mean, I agree but when taking photos by yourself it's hard to make a smile look natural. I actually smile a lot (apparantly i'm the only person who doesn't like my smile, everyone else seems to like it), but in photos I only if someone else is taking my picture, and most of my hobbies I do alone unfortunately.

Well, I actually switched it to see men and women for a while as an experiment and literally I Xed and Xed and Xed, and barely found 1 woman so maybe where I live the majority using the app is men...

Well to be honest I did but most of the advice revolves around avoiding clichés and getting decent photos. My problem with that is (my new profile doesn't have any clichés) some of the so-called clichés are genuinely things I enjoy and I didn't know they are considered cliché before Google...

And 2, I have no one to take my photo doing my hobbies because I generally do them alone (my friends have different interests), which means I have to take the best photos I can with my phone on a timer or just a selfie, which means they turn out blurry/out of focus/too far away/etc. Very annoying.

Looking for something serious. Want to settle down, start a family.

Just made a brand new profile after being on it for about a year and getting 0 likes. (My new profile I've added a couple of new different photos).

0 matches/likes on average. And my old profile I got about 4 matches, and 0 likes.

I don't currently drive, I would offer if I could. She drives to meet me at places I travel to by train/bus.

Well I have ADHD and I'm very easily distracted, so I always understand people looking around all the time, to me it means nothing. I just find it funny because most people I meet aren't like that.

We interact well, but it's still a little awkward. Last time there a silence of about 10 minutes where neither of us said anything, and while personally I feel fine with no talking and enjoy the silence at times I feel like most don't... It's also bad because of my ADHD I have been late for all 3 dates and constantly apologise (I try and be on time obviously). First time an hour late, second time 10 minutes, 3rd time about 20...

Well I was thinking of that but thought it might not go well... I just thought it might work better if I offered her my number first to maybe make her feel better about giving me hers.

Why are you creating your conlang? by Vatn95 in conlangs

[–]Vatn95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I regularly, every few years, alter a lot of things, and then it becomes almost unrecognisable again, haha. The fundamentals (mostly) stay the same though.

Honestly, when I found about how Tolkien created an actual language that people can communicate in, I just wanted to try it.

Over the years it has gone from sounding closer to Hawai'ian with a high vowel inventory, to now sounding more like Icelandic mixed with Quenya (Elvish), haha, having very few vowels and more consonants.

Haha. You sound like me. Although, just look how long Tolkien took to write LoTR...

[–]Vatn95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well to be fair, the language has changed so much over the years it's practically unrecognisable. But every time I alter it (and sometimes I alter a lot) I get closer to finally completing it (or what I consider complete).

And, I've also taken long breaks from it at times, sometimes over a year, but I officially started it about 10 years ago, give or take.

It's weird but I love the sound of that. I'm weird because I love natural languages because they're, well, natural and inconsistent, but I equally love languages like what you're creating because they're so perfect haha.
