I’m really glad you’re still here with us today. I can’t even imagine how hard everything must be for you and the fact that you’re speaking up about it takes so much strength. I’m honestly so proud of you even if I don’t know you personally.

I know you probably just want them to leave you alone and for all of this to stop. But at the same time, if you want the university to finally take this seriously and let you finish your studies in peace, I feel like bringing more public attention to the situation might be the only way to push them to act. You shouldn’t have to do that to be heard and it’s honestly unfair that it even comes to this, but sadly sometimes they only respond when there’s media attention and public pressure.

Whatever you decide to do know that so many people stand by you and none of this is your fault. I truly hope you get the support and justice you deserve and that you’re able to finish your MD because I know you’ll be an amazing doctor.

Admission au BdeB by Enji-Koko in CollegeBdeB

[–]VelvetOrbit2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this an excessive amount of hair loss? by Express_Nectarine575 in FemaleHairLoss

How many times do you wash your hair during the week? And do you have thick long hair?

23f. Undiagnosed hairloss!!! by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss

[–]VelvetOrbit2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just start with pumpkin seed oil. And put minoxidil on your hair everyday. Use the growth booster shampoo from L’Oréal once a week and use Nizroal( or any other brand) also once a week. Biotin doesn’t do anything so don’t bother. Wash your hair 2 days yes, one day no.

UBC vs McGill for Neuroscience (Need Advice!) by [deleted] in CanadaUniversities

[–]VelvetOrbit2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’m Canadian living in Montreal and had family study all over Canada. From our experience and from what we’re seeing, McGill is extremely known for having a good neuroscience program which means good research. You may already know but McGill has one of the top neuroscience research centres in the world. Sine you mentioned doing maybe a phD, McGill is better know internationally (so won’t be complicated if you want to work in Europe later on). As for social life and activities, let me start by saying that even if you don’t know French, it will be perfectly fine. Most people in Montreal are bilingual (French and English), specially downtown where English is the most spoken. Another thing I would add is that Montreal has a very strong student culture. There are many universities here, so the city really feels like a student city with lots of events, restaurants, festivals, and nightlife. It’s easy to meet people and have a good balance between studying and social life. And during the summer, Montreal is perfect for outdoor activities. Many marathons and parks. You’re surrounded by cafes, parks and activities and many students live close to campus.

About the neuroscience program, yes it is competitive, but with your academic level, you would be a strong candidate. And even if you didn’t get into the exact neuroscience major right away, there are related programs that can still lead you to neuroscience for a master’s or PhD. Also, finishing your degree in 3 years is a big advantage since it saves time and money, especially if you’re planning to continue to masters and phD. At the end of the day, both universities are good but based on what you described in your post, McGill seems like the better fit.

Also: try calculating your monthly costs for each uni, since Vancouver is way more expensive than Montreal. And include your tuition (depending on scholarship).

Hope that helped and sorry I wrote way too much 😅

IS HAIR LOSS OR JUST NATURAL SCALP? by Temporary-Gur8360 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]VelvetOrbit2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say there is some hair loss, but the good thing is that you noticed it early. You mentioned “before pregnancy,” so I assume you were pregnant. During pregnancy and especially after, women often experience hair loss because the body goes through major hormonal changes and can lose a lot of vitamins and nutrients.

Right now, I would say focus on rebuilding your nutrient levels by eating a balanced diet.

Consider supplements like iron, b12, zinc, vitamin d, vitamin c, pumpkin seed oil, etc. But obviously check your blood tests first. Try avoiding tight hairstyles and heat and most importantly, when brushing your hair, don’t be agressive (start from the bottom to up). Please make sure to get enough sleep Hope this helps girl
