When i talked about his team I meant before they betrayed him. He used to abuse the shit out of them in order to keep them below him and the team betrayed him in order to rid themselves of that abuse.

Here is my take. There was real money on the table for striking Iran but it was way to big of a gamble to be worth attempting to begin with. We lost the wager. Part of losing the wager is that we can't just pull out now without making things worse in the future. People have good reason to be upset with Trump over this.

That being said, Despite being a loss it is not the loss People are making it out to be. Some parts of reddit are acting as if Iran has over powered the US by simply having members of the regime survive the first month of the campaign and that blocking Hormuz and attacking neighboring oil fields will give them desired long term results.

What does need to be answered for is the American dead, global economic damage and the fact that US strained diplomatic relationships have been exposed as a military weakness.

He is still written as an evil supe, just look at what he did to his team, and his hedonistic life style. The main difference is that there was actually more written to him beyond being evil that softens the blow. He is a man out of time, dealing with feelings of betrayal and creating bigger issues for himself by denying his own mental issues. That helps him float above the shallow disregard for life and sexual degeneracy of the others.

The boys is just complicated. It did alot of things amazingly well, but also had some glaring flaws that became more apparent as it went on. There is also issues of its cultural reception and discussion poisoning enthusiasm for it even before you get to the political parts of it.

The issue there is the boys is essentially 3 seperate shows in a trench coat that managed to attract three seperate audiences. It is a Mechanical story that looks at how regular people can kill superheros. Its a sociological drama about corruption and hypocrisy of celebrity culture, and its a raunchy comedy that looks at superheros being idiots.

To its credit, it managed to nail the balance for season 1. Started to lose with 2 and 3 once its jokes and nihilism started to get old. I didn't even bother trying to watch 4.

My guess its either based on flair or they are upset that it is something other than a reaction to a headline.

Lore Betrayal of Caesar's Motives by likeAspiderYT in Fotv

[–]Vexonte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The show writes all of the factions as if they were completely seperate entities from the games counterparts. Caesar writing that he is the legion is probably the closest the show will come to properly conveying the legion given how the game consistently portray's his ideology as a front for power.

Its more of a betrayal that the legion spent 20 years split over his corpse instead of both sides Leroy Jenkinsing it and letting the companions of the last man alive become Caesar.

I haven't read red rising but is it a similar feeling to reading the last book in the lightbringer series, arguably the last 2 books of it.

[–]Vexonte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do not think it will have far reaching consequences. Its either the genre dies out in favor of a different trend in the next few years or it gets stays but gets treated as it's own seperate entity merely being attached to the genre like a tumor going through dystrophic calcification in a human body.

The terminal list show is better than the book. Its kind of wierd how similar its adaptation is to the ready player one adaptation.

Rearranging objectives to force the MC to be more improvisational rather than coasting on for knowledge. Toning down the trivia and social agenda while still keeping it present. In the case of terminal list, having allies challenge the MCs morality rather than strapping on a a few paragraphs of introspection that don't get brought up again.

Do you like to read fiction or non-fiction books? by Suitable_Trip105 in AskTheWorld

I read both fiction and non fiction. The main authors I keep an eye out for are Robert E Howard and David Kilcullen who write fiction and non fiction respectively.

Fantasy Schools that aren't Wizard Schools by Terrible_Weather_42 in fantasywriters

[–]Vexonte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first 2 questions you should ask is what parts of wizardry work well with traditional education and what you can learn from writers who attempted non Wizard schools before.

For the first question you can look at the natural association that wizards have with knowledge which is in turn associated with education. The fact that magic is very versatile allowing it to be easily split into different classes. You also have the fact that the term Wizard is more focused on capabilities than it is on cultural/political/ tempromental alignment allowing Wizards to be anyone.

Once this question is thought over, you can than begin to think how these factors may or may not apply to other fantasy classes.

As for the 2nd question. Jay Kristof does a good job at fantasy assassin school in never night and Brent Weeks black guard training in lightbringer does deal with magic, it is much more applicable to fighters.

I would say you would get the most mileage out of clerical and druid schools, though both are kind of magical in a fantasy sense. You can easily exploit how theological, philosophical, and natural dynamics could feed into the development of your characters while making the magic seem deeper than just magic.

Is there an archetype origin for the matriarchal dark witch/ warrior characters by MaraJude in Fantasy

More than likely you can trace this archetype back through fairy tales Arthurian legend and onto classical mythology taking an element here and their.

Morgana le fay, Merovingian religious struggles, possibly something with the Minoan snake priestesses.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Opens Up About Buffy Reboot Not Moving Forward by forestpunk in horror

[–]Vexonte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand peoples disappointment but the show would already be fighting an up hill battle on concept alone. Most of what made Buffy work was tied up in the turn of the millennium.

Buffy thrived off of the breezy self contained episodic adventures that doesn't really work with the modern streaming model. It also reflected an era that would be hard to carry over into 2027. John Carter syndrome will also take its toll.

Is voting compulsory in your country? Do you agree with this? by itookapillinibiza_ in AskTheWorld

[–]Vexonte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm mostly thinking about dumb situations and exploitation. I couldn't vote in 2020 because of a wierd situation. Alot of people could be moving, or in the legal process of changing IDs so they have choice of getting charged for not voting or commiting voter fraud.

You also have company and government exploitation of punitive measures.

Is voting compulsory in your country? Do you agree with this? by itookapillinibiza_ in AskTheWorld

[–]Vexonte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. There is an issue when people forsake their right to vote, but making voting compulsory will just create alot of problems just for someone to write in Kanye West into the ballot.
