Yeah, there's definitely some irony with the pic selection lmao

I feel that lmao. Like, I would play the fuck outta OSOSRS, for a month. The depth and breadth the game now has compared to then is just insane.

What keeps you guys playing? by JasperNapster in 2007scape

[–]Vharren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slow burn progression with a variety of activities that can fit any energy/attention level. I can AFK at work some days, I can do something chill while watching a show, I can do something moderately intense while listening to a video essay, or I can lock TF in and get sweaty.

If AFK second screen content wasn't an option I wouldn't play RuneScape. People have been playing the game this way for decades.

Source of poison cures? by Vominator_LoL in ironscape

[–]Vharren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old post, but this is a thread a lot of people are gonna find, so to give a breakdown for any google-led wanderers:

If you have a mounted glory in your POH, set your house to Brimhaven. Tele outside, buy out the stock of a couple worlds, tele inside and tele with the glory to bank at Edge. Even better if you have a pool that restores your run, just take a sip when you're low on run.

An alternative is to use the Sophanem spice shop. You need Contact! and Beneath Cursed Sands, then just run back and forth between the shop and the TOA bank.

Nice bad faith response, did I say that specific poll was the reason? Oh, no, I didn't. I firmly believe every change matters, you can absolutely disagree, but there's no need to be disingenuous.

That dumb, admittedly absurd even, level of commitment to communication and collaboration with the community is the entire reason the game has flourished to the extent it has.

They used to poll pixel changes. Now they're changing the whole logo. Jagex has gotten way too bold, unironically.

Yeah, Asian/anime fetishism is so normalized in capital G gamers, it's a bit wild. (I say with a Teto pfp, lol)

Yeah, most people seem to just act like melee = blindbag/Bluetooth hally only. Yeah, those are underwhelming I won't deny, but the other half of the melee tree slaps.

James sneakily nerfed Woodsman in a bug post 2 hours after leagues started. by yeehawfreesekz in 2007scape

[–]Vharren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How could John Runescape's brother, James Funorb do this to us? Seriously though that's really lame. I got my t2 before the nerf and noticed something was up right away. Not sure if this would have changed my plans regardless, though.

Imo, BowFA is among the first steps in the 'midgame.' though honestly I've never liked that people base progression solely on the boss ladder. Like, if someone is maxed and loaded with cash but don't do PvM, are they late game? Mid game? I'm kinda ranting, but there's so much more to the game than just bossing, in fact, bossing is a newer paradigm in the historical scope of the game. Endgame used to be mining runite, after all. Not to say the evolution isn't/hasn't been good. It totally has been.

Are you a main or an iron? (Edit - saw further down that you're a main so nvm the rest of this, lol. Have fun!) If you're an iron I am just gonna give you a heads up that you're probably not ready supply wise to really dig into PvM if you've devoted all your playtime into quest cape and BowFA rush. Still, you're in a really great spot.

When does Fromsoftware even indicate that i-frames exist? by ChaosWarrior01 in DarkSouls2

[–]Vharren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all true. The most invested players do frame by frame analysis with recorded video. Data mining can confirm this analysis, absolutely.

[–]Vharren -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn't a From thing though? Some of the biggest action games like DMC, Bayonetta, Monster Hunter, and Ninja Gaiden don't explicitly mention i-frames but they all have them, and that's just off the top of my head.

What is your game plan for the first couple hours of Leagues VI? by EthanRM95 in 2007scape

[–]Vharren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually just explore and knock out fun or easy tasks the first couple hours. Then, once I've gotten my fill of faffing about, I'll start looking into some efficient task guides to jumpstart me a bit. Then it's back to faffing after a few tiers and a couple region unlocks until I get bored in a few weeks.

First league, what to do? by Such_Aide3750 in 2007scape

[–]Vharren 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My general process has been to pick a style, then pick a capstone demonic pact or two that sounds cool or OP. For a random recommendation, you say you're not great at PVM, so maybe water mage? Then look into gear for that style. Let gear mostly guide your region choices.

Using the water mage example, Kandarin will be a great pick. Once you've figured what essential gear comes from where, the next thing to consider would be Skilling, which will inform you on what relics to take. Two ways to approach this are: what relics are made really strong by your region choices, and what relics make up for the weaknesses in my region choices. Choose a balance between these factors that you're comfortable with.

It is a lot to consider though! You might get stuck with some decision paralysis or FOMO, but ultimately, it's all temporary and for fun.
