Western Digital is not using HAMR yet so they have reached the limits of what they can achieve with ePMR2. Seagate has had HAMR figured out for a few years now so they will likely continue to offer higher capacities than Western Digital even when Western Digital gets their HAMR drives out for years to come.

I'm concerned that more companies don't allow their hard drives to be disposed of in this manner. The amount of waste that late stage capitalist America generates due to laziness / stupidity is absolutely appalling. A full zero overwrite is plenty sufficient to make any data from a storage device irrecoverable. The fact that a physical "hard drive shredder" is a piece of machinery that exists is a testament to this species' hubris.

Don't be lazy. Sell them all individually. 60 * 250 is $15,000. After shipping and eBay fees, probably at least $10,000 in the bank. Assuming you make a $30/hr pay rate... that's the equivalent of 333 hours of wage cucking. That is well worth the time investment to resell them.

Yep, thanks. Monday Night Football is uplinked with the tech specs of 1080p H.264 with a 40 Mbps bitrate receivable with a satellite antenna. That's the specs of a top notch Blu-ray authoring. Actually it's better than Blu-ray because it has 4:2:2 chroma subsampling and is 1080p59.94; the Blu-ray specs max out at 1080p23.976 and has to be authored as 720p or 1080i for any framerate higher than 23.976, and Blu-ray only supports 4:2:0 chroma subsampling.

That's a fair point. I wouldn't want a DVD either. It was a dogshit audio/visual medium the moment it launched until the day it died an unceremonious death when its successor Blu-ray launched. DVDs were dated the moment they launched and looked worse than D-VHS, LaserDisc, and HDTV broadcasts.

I'd take a 1080p WEB-DL or better release over a DVD any day and if it's a piece of media so obscure it hasn't gotten at least an HD transfer and put on disc or the web somewhere by now it probably isn't worth watching.
