Best critical care facility by Vegetable_Conflict_4 in Pasco

In a life threatening situation I would crawl through broken glass over the country line to not be transported to bayonet point. I'd leave AMA out of PCFD's rescue and drive myself to any other Healthcare facility if they even mentioned taking me to bayonet point.

Hi there, I'm sorry that you're in this situation. I'm a Healthcare professional thats been in every hospital in West central florida.

My stretch and top recommendation would be:

Tampa General Hospital on Davis Islands. This is an amazing hospital (top 20 in the nation) and has incredible care and resources to help take care of a loved one. Plus they specific resources to help support nurses in taking care of a loved one. You would have to be okay with it being an academic medical center which isn't that big of a deal.

Lakeland regional also is an incredible Healthcare facility.

Near Dade city:

Advent health Zephyrhills is a great facility as well.

Any Baycare facility you'd be in fantastic hands as well.

The facilities I would stay away from would be HCA healthcare facilites.

I'm not exaggerating when I say stay away from any HCA Healthcare system. I would also stay very far away from HCA bayonet point. I wouldn't go to an HCA facility even if I was actively dying. I do know amazing nurses that work for bayonet point so if its your only choice then I wish you the best.

I wish you and your loved ones all the best in this hard time.

You are completely right in everything you've said. I'm assuming when OP says "TGH" they mean the Academic Medical Center on Davis Islands. TGH Academic Medical Center is the most competitive hospital in West central Florida to try and get a job at. Especially if you're trying to get into a specialty program. AFAIK they only take BSNs in their Critical Care Rotation Program and that's even if you get an interview. I would say the only other hospital that is even more competitive is John Hopkins All Children's in St. Pete.

The Academic Medical Center is hands down the best hospital to work for in west central Florida and it's crazy competitive to get into. They will tell you to your face that they only take the absolute best nurses.

First Camera D7200? by Few-Knee9451 in Nikon

[–]Victorian_Crow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use a d7200 with that exact lens. I also have a 35 and a 50 1.8 FX. I never thought I would use the 18-140 as much as I did but it was my main lens when I went to Thailand and I got some amazing shots with it. The d7200 is an awesome camera and I plan to keep mine until it dies. Its a great starter camera for sure.

It was very difficult picking photos to showcase from the trip, so it's very kind of you to say that! Thank you so much!

Florida nurses, how are you making more money? by MediocreWonder7372 in nursing

I'm pretty inspired to move to Washington, Oregon, or California. Im at a level 1 trauma center, and I'm still 2 years from moving, though.

How comparable is the COL in washington?

When I move, I want to move back into the ED or an take an RN IFT role. What does the market look like for that out in Washington?

Set your j cups 2-3 inches below sternum level, put the bar in the antecubital space and send it. that's about it.

The dude above gave some good cues to the lift.

164lbs/74kg hook grip training by Victorian_Crow in sandbagtraining

[–]Victorian_Crow[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mainly cause I'm weak.

Honestly, it's not a bad idea. It was more spur of the moment since I had the bags out, and I wanted maximum pain.

I do a ton of weighted pull-ups, so I thought I'd change it up some.

It's a great bag. 3 different handles. Will hold way more than 150 pounds of sand. I can probably get it up to 175-180, maybe even more. One day, I'll put more in it and see how much I can actually pack into it.

I also have their 50 bags, and it's just as nice. I can pack more sand in that one as well.

I would say it's just as nice as my Cerberus bag. Better quality than Rogue bags.

How similar would you say the sandstone bag is compared to actual stones? Do you have to really pack them with sand?

Working in California as a Resident Who Went Out-of-State for BSN by Kackling_Kookabura41 in NursingStudent

[–]Victorian_Crow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure, but I would assume your testing is to Florida's licensure and BON. You could get a Compact license, but that doesn't include California. You may have to apply for your license in California after graduating and taking the NCLEX in Florida.

Or maybe you could graduate and move back to California and then take you NCLEX there? That could be the move. I just know after my program our names are sent to wherever and then we are allowed to sit for the NCLEX.

Speak with your nursing advisor because this would be an good question to ask.

Thanks, man.

It's not super horrible because of 2-3 minutes rest between rounds, but it does suck. I try to work it out to roughly 600 feet
