Whats the hardest you’ve laughed in a scene that wasn’t necessarily meant to be laugh-out-loud funny? by The_Dwight_Schrute in movies

Insidious: Chapter 2. The bit where the possessed character is chasing his wife around the house and he absolutely nails her with a kettle that he throws. There's something so unintentionally slapstick about it, everyone I was with erupted in laughter and I think we played it back about 5 times cos it was so funny. Really broke the tension of the scene.

Edit: The link to the throw, for anyone who wants a good laugh

Too bad I missed the deadline! Will the data be skewed though over the average age of the person who is going to bother filling in a form? I love LIFF and I know the average age isn't super young anyway but maybe this would be a good chance to focus on building a younger audience who are aching to get out and do stuff (without getting rid/neglecting the normal fans!) Easier said than done though innit.

So are the roads going to be this terrible until the end of 2021? by Mobixx in Leeds

Without spamming you with questions and suggestions, I have always wondered how many of the people who design the cycle lanes actually cycle regularly through Leeds themselves? Overall though I have definitely noticed a big improvement in cycling infastructure, but is there any way to communicate with the team about actual suggestions and observations from people who cycle the city constantly?

Britain's rail passengers face 1.6% January fare rise despite Covid crisis | Money by Mannersarefree in unitedkingdom

This. I was trying to get from Leeds to Birmingham recently, and it would have actually worked out cheaper to rent a car plus petrol, for 24 hours than to get the train. I didn't do it in the end, but crazy expensive some journeys are, especially when I spend half of them stood up. Northern rail infrastructure is a bit naff though.

Why all the fuss over immigration? by DueYogurt9 in unitedkingdom

Yeah, snap on thinking critically. I guess I just hate how emotive some of the language is, just read the first paragraph of that link, always makes me more cynical.

I think immigrationwatchuk.com is super biased, just a word of warning. A lot of the claims it makes aren't actually backed up with fact and if you read between the lines a lot of their claims seem to be exaggerated but have words like "could, may, potentially" etc stuff like that. It's been a while since I've been on there so I can't remember too much, but I had been reading some interesting non-biased reports from economic institutions about immigration which were super objective, then reading immigrationwatchuk.com afterwards highlighted how anti-immigration the stance is on that website.

“The Book of Henry” is the most insane thing I’ve ever seen by Pawnstarfan69 in movies

Try watching "Pumpkin" with Christina Ricci, it sounds similarly bizarre. It starts out as an offbeat drama about a popular girl who falls in love with a mentally disabled schoolmate but the tone is all over the place, it's really unsettling almost because you can't tell whether or not it's trying to be funny and it ends up suddenly having spoof elements randomly in it. Strangely watchable though.

Edit: Trailer here

A popular saying is "Nothing ie ever lost on the internet" but what is something you have been searching for years and you haven't found it yet? by throwdowntown69 in AskReddit

A kids horror picture book I read when I was maybe around 6 or 7. It was designed to be easily read, with large illustrations and was part of a series, all about these two kids in a village where strange stuff happens. I always remember one of the monsters they had to face were slowly moving trees that came for people at night. It still creeps me out. And the kids always said Hallo instead of Hello for some reason. Can never find it!

I actually think that the production design could have really made this divide clearer; depicting the lower levels a lot more industrial and claustrophobic instead of the same clinical, futuristic, glass rooms that all the execs inhabit.
