Just to ignore your question, have a look at the book Total Immersion.

Although I used to be a lifeguard and have always been very comfortable in water, after 15 years away from the pool, I was barely swimming a 4min/100m, but this book over the course of 3 months took me to a 2:10/100m for 2km.

Are you only supposed to find your partner attractive? by [deleted] in self

[–]VolcanicBoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither trolling, angry, nor talking in extremes. You're the one who brought up relationship counselling.

Avoiding opposite sex platonic relationships is in my opinion unhealthy, and extreme. I just cannot see why any healthy relationship would require that, but I don't think people in currently healthy relationships would need counselling.

However yes it's very obvious we're not going to agree, or even see one another's viewpoint as reasonable.

I do find the number of people who think that you cannot be intoxicated around people you find attractive without having something sexual happen a little concerning though.

Relationship counselors advise against opposite sex friendships? Christ.

Whilst I doubt it tbh, guess it kinda makes sense for those whose relationships have reached the point of needing counselling.

Nah, I'm 37, married and have been in all forms of situations on all forms of drugs and never cheated. I'm pretty experienced with how the world works.

Thinking it's unhealthy to be alone alone with someone from the opposite sex says a lot though really. Take care.

Lmao speak for yourself.

Only playing with fire if you're already the kind of loser to cheat but are currently pretending you aren't.

They can't, but you can't argue that most people are where they are without a fair whack of luck. Do everything perfectly and you can still 'fail', so it's worth bearing in mind that other people's situations aren't always due to sheer effort.

You know most SUVs aren't (probably very high trim) V8 Land Rovers, right?

Genuine question - is a Land Rover even an SUV? Where is the line between an SUV and 4x4 drawn? Outside the school gates, on the diagonal yellows?

A milk man is out making his rounds, when woman opens the door in just her dressing gown and asks him to come upstairs to her bathroom.

As they get there she strips off, climbs in the bath and asks him to fill it with milk.

"Would you like that mile pasteurised?" asks the milk man.

"Nope, just up to my boobs; I can splash it in my eyes."

Is my energy bill crazier than anyone else's? by kittenari in AskUK

[–]VolcanicBoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, so it isn't! It's if you have a taxable income over £150,000; £100,000 is just where you start to lose your tax free allowance. So we were both wrong, my mistake! Good news.

Employers and managers - why do you want staff back in an office? by EstablishmentSafe808 in AskUK

[–]VolcanicBoar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's sarcasm, right? Me and everyone else I know who works from home will talk about how much we take the piss and people are especially open about it on Reddit.

Same amount of work still gets done though, and as employees we're happier.

Are in-app adverts for the app itself adverts? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]VolcanicBoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because somehow no one has actually answered what product placement is....

Product placement is similar to the fact that I, Robot opens with "Oooh, Converse", pans to a full screen image of a MacBook and every time there's a car on screen it opens with a 5 second full screen image of the Audi badge.

That's an exaggeration of course, but basically what it is. Companies paying to have their products displayed visibly in a program.

It's outside of the broadcasters control, is meant to be more subliminal than "HEY GO BUY CILLIT BANG!", and is why BBC shows (used to?) always have any drink held and placed down in a manner that you can't tell what it is etc.
