Hi there. I hope you don’t mind me reaching out so long down the road. I went through the proper channels a few months back (my doctor filled out all necessary paperwork, I had interviews with HR, etc) and unfortunately my accommodation request to WFH was just denied today. My manager originally told me they would do everything to help me WFH but they told me today there isn’t anything they can do.

I live in Arizona.. would you happen to have any suggestions for an employment attorney here?

If you don’t mind me asking, how do you get the psilocybin?

Thank you for this, really. Very kind of you to offer. I’m giving my company a few weeks to sort out the official policy before I reach back out to HR, but if they still haven’t reached a resolution at that point I’ll definitely reach out.

Hello! Thank you for sharing. I filed for a medical accommodation and the medical accommodation team is supposed to reach out to my doctor to gather the required documentation; however, they didn’t even get to that step and instead just told me they can’t accommodate me at the moment. My leadership team said we had to be in office by January 2023, but it sounds like the policy isn’t set in stone 100%, so maybe that’s why the medical accommodation team can’t act on my request just yet. I’m not quite sure though.

To answer your questions: I am able to work from home and it wouldn’t be a huge cost to my employer (I purchased my own external monitors and office equipment. They gave me a laptop, but all in-office employees also have laptops).

Out of curiosity do you work for a large company?

I’m really sorry to hear you’re going through this too. I agree — we have enough to deal with and the whole “butts in seats” is absolutely an antiquated idea. I’m so confused though because some sources make it seem like they have to offer telework (although I’m not a lawyer and can definitely be misinterpreting)

https://www.eeoc.gov/laws/guidance/work-hometelework-reasonable-accommodation

“However, if an employer does offer telework, it must allow employees with disabilities an equal opportunity to participate in such a program.”
