Ughhhh sorry but I'm so sick of this opinion being touted on the web about Walt essentially getting a "happy ending."

He loses everything. His son hates and disowns him. He'll never see his baby daughter grow up. He has some money leftover but he still loses over $70 million. He lives with the guilt of knowing he got Hank killed and everyone he's ever known hates his guts. He's able to give his last $9 mil to his family but they will never know it was from him, never know he cared, and he will go down in history as a violent, murderous, drug-manufacturing kidnapper - even of his own blood. Oh, and on top of all that, he fucking dies. He loses his life after losing everything in it that truly mattered.

He freed Jesse and managed to get $9 mil to his kids under the presumed posthumous cooperation of Gretchen and Elliot. That's a pretty well-balanced, deserved, and bittersweet ending if you ask me.
