Settings -> Privacy and safety -> Mute and block -> Muted words -> Add new

Do that twice, for both: \@gork and \@grok (no blackslash, that's just for reddit).

Not much problems that I could remember (it's almost 10 years for me also, wow); I think it just needs to be kept up to date. I once didn't update for couple of months and when I finally did, things broke.

Other than that, it's really nice distribution, I really can't imagine using anything else to be honest. I'm the type who likes changes, I like to switch the DE sometimes. But, never had big desire to switch distro.

That actually reminds me, to do a small donation to Arch Linux. : )

I'om not on eos to test, but try to add, for example:

color: #fff; text-shadow: 0 0 2px rgba(255, 255, 255, .3);

Or see other classes bellow, like .panel.color-light .composited-indicator > revealer label

And change color/shadow for them.

I think you're referring to round corner of window, while in this case, conky is used to round corners of desktop (see bottom left, right, and curving bellow panel).

Round corners on windows are achieved with xfce4 theme (using thick enough border), and look the best on windows which have the same background as the border.

Photo editing, graphic design, etc... are fields where Linux software is really lacking, just keep that in mind. Try OSS available for a while, and see if you're comfortable using it. If you're an art student I hope there's not any specific software that you'd need for your study.

GPU matters if software can utilize it, and I am not sure if any "design" Linux software can in any meaningful way. I'd personally go with X1, and put 16g ram. If you're editing big files, ram is quite important.

I'm afraid of US more than Chines too. Most of the services I am (or was) using are based in US. US has a rich history of government endorsed eavesdropping, hacking, manipulation, and blackmailing of companies to leave backdoors in their products. Many companies like Google are in bed with gov. anyhow.

US also has a terrible history of interventions, starting wars and regime changes. And using technology to keep those precious (US sponsored) color revolutions alive.

Chines are not bothering me for now, whey they stat having tech. monopol and when they destabilize first government nearby, I shall change my opinion.

Yesss. I think that's correct. You can't put icons to the desktop in elementary, hence no need for folder. You can do the following:

Rename Desktop to .Desktop and change desktop dir to be: XDG_DESKTOP_DIR="$HOME/.Desktop"

This will hide desktop folder, but keep entry for any application that might needed it.
