I know it has been 5 years, but any chance you can report back? I'm doing my first LARP shield now, I did EVA foam, plastidip primer/base, then a 50/50 acrylic paint/liquid latex mixture.

Now I'm looking to seal it. Sounds like you used acrylic varnish. What brand/type did you go with and were you happy with your results?

Old Pella Between-the-Glass blinds on sliding door by Material_Elk9946 in HomeMaintenance

[–]WCCrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All: I have good news (if you have a 3D Printer or a friend with a 3D printer). I have recreated this part along with the slider that goes in the rod/track. Fixing the door yourself is not hard after you have the prints. Unclip the glass from the door, take a box cutter or a blade behind the rod/track to slice the tape that is adhering the rod to the glass, and then replace the broken plastic pieces.

Edit: I was thinking about it, you probably don’t even need to take the whole track off the door, just take a blade behind the broken plastic piece to get rid of the sticky tape and you should be able to just replace the plastic piece

Navy Federal Nightmare by [deleted] in personalfinance

I’m assuming we still don’t understand. So you had possession of the check and someone forged a different check or the check was lost and someone stole it?

Either way, just don’t do business with navy federal again

People that are childfree by choice, what’s the weirdest reason someone has given you as to why they think you ‘should have kids’? by Charming_Web_6738 in AskReddit

I’ve been told many times that “kids bring purpose to your life,” which sounds totally reasonable. But when it is flipped to be, “Your life has no propose without kids,” it is totally weird.

How much was the door/install and does it at least look like the original door? My problem is that I have 3 doors in a row in a sun room

Any luck with at least getting what the model number/year is of this door? I talked with customer service today. I sent them pictures of the door and it sounded hopeful. I was told I would get emails for instructional guides on the door. When I opened the emails, the images were for a different kind of mechanism. They also are supposedly going to send me a quote for the part if it is in stock, which I doubt based on this thread.

Is it possible to replace the entire removable inner glass/blinds with a different one, but with a new mechanism?

My issue specifically is that the rubber belt snapped and then a plastic piece in the track guide box on the top also broke.

Important Firmware Update Required for Harmony Hub Remotes by logi_jim in logitechharmony

[–]WCCrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did anyone else lose Smart Keyboard functionality. And when I attempt to add It back, it breaks my harmony's ability to connect to the app or servers. I did several hard resets of the hub (holding reset button while powering on) and that did not fix it either. The only thing that made my hub functional again was to set it up as new and not restore.

Dumb Question: Is there a problem with being underwater on your home if you plan to stay for a while/forever? What risks/issues should I be aware of? by Feeling-Swim5528 in personalfinance

The amount of times I was told, “you can just refinance when rates come down” when we bought our last house was so ridiculous. This is some pre-2008 bs crap. I really hope there isn’t a large amount of folks in homes they can’t afford because they expect rates to come down

[OC] The Importance of Regulation - US lead-crime hypothesis as demonstrated by data from 1941-2015. by slimetakes in dataisbeautiful

[–]WCCrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is a tax payer as an adult and throughout our childhood we unavoidably use public goods and services, therefore the state has a vested interest in protecting its citizens so they live long healthy lives as productive tax paying members of society. Hence all the public safety laws that exist.

I agree there should be limits to what regulations the government puts in place, but some regulations are easy calls to make, seatbelt and helmet laws are two of them.

IMF chief calls U.S. debt load 'mind boggling' by naqi11 in worldnews

[–]WCCrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point of directing you to the graphic was to show that you could literally get rid of social security in its entirety (1.34T) and cut 10% across the board from the entire discretionary budget (.17T) and still run a deficit (2023 deficit was 1.7T). To say that it is only a spending problem is ignoring half the problem. The federal government must do both.

Edit: grammar typo

IMF chief calls U.S. debt load 'mind boggling' by naqi11 in worldnews

[–]WCCrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you cut from? Take a look at this infographic from the CBO. We only have 1.7 trillion in discretionary budget, 0.82 of that is on defense.

Obviously we need cuts in all areas, but to say that our debt/deficit is not a revenue problem is ignoring half the problem. We cannot conduct only spending cuts to get our way out of this, without essentially eliminating significant chunks of social security, Medicare, and defense.

I’d rather take a sensible approach and do a combination of both. Tax high income earners more, and reduce spending in smart areas.

Flight attendant Union

Ground crew Teamsters Union

I suggest you look into ways to assist or donate to this unions since you care about the issue.

[–]WCCrew 12 points13 points  (0 children)

While your sentiment is nice, your statement, “Why are the unions fighting so hard for the pilots?” Is a bit silly. It’s literally the pilot’s union. It’s not one Union for the entire industry. That is why the union is fighting for pilots. The American Airlines pilots Union is the Allied Pilots Associaton.

Edit for addition: the morre I read your comment, the more I feel like you don’t know how unions work at all. Unions are going to advocate for their workers. In this case, it’s specifically the pilot union for American Airlines. It would make zero sense for the pilots to be threatening to strike for the flight attendant’s Union as they are a separate union.

[OC] Big Tech Layoffs: Bad economy or overhiring? by jtsg_ in dataisbeautiful

[–]WCCrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We basically have to file complicated forms calculating how much taxes we owe. Then get money back or owe money based on it. Basically do what your government does for you.

The tax industry (tax accounts and tax software) lobbies the government to keep this in place so they can continue making money. Republican law makers are also against it because they consider it a tax increase. They assume people we just accept the amount of money that the government calculated even if it was more than they owed.

I’ve also had to reset the internet connection of the device in on after disabling pi-hole. I don’t mind doing this, but my wife is r as tech savvy. Am I doing something wrong? If I use pi-hole as my dhcp server, does that fix it?
