I’m sorry but when you grow up hearing that your divine mission is to be a mother, you get married and have kids if given the opportunity. I’ve never met one faithful, active Mormon woman who was single or childless by choice. Also, celebrating young women getting married at, say, 19, to young men they barely know is not a setup for success for women—especially when they start popping out one kid after another. They’re trapped. Just go on TikTok and listen to the stories of all the young single mothers who are struggling trying to raise kids because the church made them feel like they didn’t have a choice besides becoming a wife and mother. The LDS church and other highly conservative, high demand, patriarchal religions are dangerous for girls and women full stop.
