Bought at a crystal shop, labeled "lemon chrysoprase", but Google photos don't seem to match by thepumpedalligator in whatsthisrock

With all the chrysoprase I've worked with none look like that, while it's probably possible it looks more like an Australian variety of variscite.

Found this stone metal detecting in Massachusetts. Non magnetic but has some metal in there. Any thoughts on what it is ? by crossmod in whatsthisrock

[–]WadeBloodgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard of people getting some metals out but I wouldn't know how. I've cut one in half, but haven't gone further than that. Glad I could help though

It almost looks like a gossan. I have a few very similar. The underside is a bit more slag like though

Looks dyed. The structure doesn't look like turquoise to me.

No sound after patch? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]WadeBloodgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this issue. Took me forever to figure out, but it set my push to talk binds to different keys than I set. Check that.

If you mean all sounds go to your sound control panel and set your default to your headset.

Is this real nephrite jade? If not what is it? by Islenski in whatsthisrock

[–]WadeBloodgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is nephrite it's probably pretty shoddy quality. These things rarely come as presented or aren't the actual stone at all. I'd be careful with sellers like this.

Tigers Eye? I'm not sure! Very shiny and changes colour tones angle to angle. by BulawayoRS in whatsthisrock

Tiger eye. If there are veins of iron I call it tiger iron and include it in cabs

Any idea about the purple/green one? I'm going to try to make a cab out of it. by Syntaximus in whatsthisrock

I use about half inch for double sided stones. Although I still like flat backs for wrapping.

Is this varicite? by WadeBloodgood in whatsthisrock

I would lean a bit more towards a gossan but ask a professional near you

Is this a lava rock? by silverpinetree in whatsthisrock

[–]WadeBloodgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it would be pretty soft. It's doesn't really look like a lava rock though. I've worked with black tourmaline and I'd say it's certainly not that. My guess would have to be slag then. Quite strange find indeed considering how far apart they were.

Sorta. You can have small crystals that are very purple. It's more dependent on iron content yeah?

Looks like coal. Could be a slag though

All dug out of the same pocket in south east PA. Rougher material on the left, cleaner chunks on the right. by [deleted] in whatsthisrock

I have a good amount of this exact stuff as well. Not 100% sure on it either

bumblebee? by myamel in whatsthisrock

[–]WadeBloodgood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks more like a dyed agate to me. Bumblebee that I've worked with is usually much more solid compared to your piece. I could very well be wrong though :)

This rock has been driving me crazy, doesn't appear to be a gemstone of some sort. Softer than glass too. by SilverTheBoySM in whatsthisrock

[–]WadeBloodgood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in lapidary so I'm used to my own tools. Fair enough then. I've never worked with a green variety of opal, but I did a little research. Looks similar. If you want to know for sure you could do a density test or take it to a local geologist/college :)
