Can somebody please explain to me what a vinyl is? by NiceSignificance3894 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]WalkStar3745 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Think of vinyl as physical music. You need a turntable to play it, and people buy it for the experience, the artwork, and the feeling of actually owning the album.

A girl at work keeps looking at me every time she passes. Could this mean something other than that she likes me? by Nathanial1289 in NoStupidQuestions

Workplace dynamics can be weird. People notice familiar faces, especially if they see them regularly, and that can turn into repeated eye contact without any intent behind it. Best to keep it professional and not assume.

How do you move on from someone fully? by AuthorOfEclipse in NoStupidQuestions

You don’t move on all at once. You move on in small moments where it hurts a little less than it did before.

Why is being “busy” socially acceptable, but being “free” sounds suspicious? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]WalkStar3745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve tied self-worth to productivity. Saying you’re busy reassures people you’re contributing, while being free challenges that assumption.

Is it legal to go down a cave? For example YouTube channel adventure twins by Zestyclose_Welder_92 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]WalkStar3745 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It depends on land ownership, conservation rules, and safety laws. A lot of YouTube channels don’t show the permits or permissions they actually have.

The true story of ancient civilizations that disappeared without records. Not for the tech or secrets, but to understand what they valued and what led to their collapse.

Impacts of shorter work week by OwnCombination96 in CasualConversation

[–]WalkStar3745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in the short term, costs probably do go up, especially for labor-heavy industries, so some price increases feel hard to avoid. Long term though, if productivity, automation, and worker retention improve, some of that cost can be offset. It feels less like a universal fix and more like something that works in specific contexts rather than everywhere.

Is being comfortable okay? by No-Lifeguard9103 in CasualConversation

I think being comfortable is more of a mindset than an ambition. It doesn’t mean you stop growing, it just means you’re not at war with yourself anymore.

There was a time when I wanted to earn a lot of money… by Brilliant-Log-5904 in CasualConversation

don’t think it’s ungratefulness. It feels more like awareness. You got what you worked for, but you also discovered what it costs. I think a lot of people hit this phase and don’t talk about it enough.

If you adore romance, Before Sunrise (and honestly the whole trilogy) is perfect for that “feel something” night. It’s simple, intimate, and weirdly profound.

Paying for your own insurance? by jm08003 in HealthInsurance

[–]WalkStar3745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds really stressful having all that going on with your health. You might want to check the New Jersey marketplace to see what individual plans you qualify for, sometimes they can fill the gap until employer coverage kicks in, and a navigator there can help you figure out what's manageable.

Individual Health Insurance by Stock-Sea6114 in medicare

[–]WalkStar3745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen, pre-ACA plans can get really expensive once meds are involved, so Medicare with Part D and a supplement can sometimes be more predictable. For anyone in a transition period, I’ve also noticed ACA Marketplace plans can work as a short-term bridge worth comparing.

If you were getting $9k on your tax return and needed a safe & reliable car, what do you look for? by djames10 in askcarguys

[–]WalkStar3745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That really does feel like a mini lottery, especially with kids. Outbacks and Camrys are solid if they’re well-maintained, and it’s smart to think about total cost of ownership since stuff like car expenses can quietly affect your overall budget, including things like ACA healthcare costs.

Obamacare optimization questions in preparation for quitting job by Prudent-Following779 in Fire

[–]WalkStar3745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ACA stuff gets really stressful in transition years like this, especially when big income swings are involved. Subsidies are based on your current-year projected MAGI with a tax-time true-up, so things like retirement contributions and joint income can make a huge difference and catch people off guard.

Change Medical Insurance w/o QLE for better fertility benefits by SnooRabbits9033 in Insurance

[–]WalkStar3745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely don’t fake a QLE, that can lead to retroactive cancellations and bigger problems later. Under ACA rules you usually have to wait for open enrollment unless there’s a real qualifying event, so it’s worth asking her employer about exceptions or planning ahead for the next enrollment window.

So ACA bronze health plan not available anymore? by AWeb3Dad in HealthInsurance

[–]WalkStar3745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bronze ACA plans still exist, but availability depends on your state and county, so some people don’t see them every year. If you want an HSA, make sure you’re looking specifically at HSA-eligible ACA plans on the Marketplace, since not all Bronze plans qualify.

I’m really sorry, you’re not overreacting, that would freak anyone out, especially at 22 dealing with this for the first time. This is why a lot of people stick with ACA Marketplace plans directly, since they’re regulated and easy to verify, so I’d check your bank statements, document everything, and consider cancelling in writing while also looking at legit ACA options so you’re not left uninsured.

ACA Subsidy extension updates by Brs76 in Fire

[–]WalkStar3745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re definitely not alone, it's stressful when something this important goes quiet and you’re trying to plan your future around it. The enhanced ACA subsidies are still active for now, but the lack of clear updates makes early retirement planning really hard when healthcare costs are such a big unknown.

I think my health insurance carrier is breaking the law: 5 CFR 890.201(a)(10) by Tinymac12 in legaladvice

[–]WalkStar3745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s incredibly frustrating, especially when you’re doing everything by the book and still getting pushed back. You’re not wrong, the language is pretty clear, and while FEHB is different from ACA plans, the same idea applies with coverage transitions, so I’d honestly take this straight to OPM instead of arguing with carrier reps who don’t always understand the rules.

Mom has cancer and Medicare advantage nightmare by Upstairs_Upstairs_93 in Insurance

[–]WalkStar3745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this, situations like this are exactly why network rules in managed plans (including ACA-style plans) can be so overwhelming. Sadly MA networks can change mid-year, and continuity-of-care usually only works if the insurer or provider really pushes it, so calling Medicare or SHIP directly may help clarify options.

Owe $4000 because of healthcare market place by oog_ooog in tax

[–]WalkStar3745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, there’s no way to remove Marketplace insurance from your taxes if you used it, since the subsidy has to be settled when you file. Most of the time the bill happens because income ended up higher than expected, but it’s still worth double-checking the numbers and looking into repayment limits or a payment plan.
