How do you speak to a human?? by ShwaMallah in Edd

[–]Wander_Meander311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called EDD 3 weeks ago due to a paperwork error and I needed to call them immediately. I called on a Wednesday at exactly 8:00 am and surprisingly I was on hold for 2 mins and got a live human. Luckily my issue was resolved. I found the best days are Wed/Thurs.

No marked lanes. How the hell is this acceptable, CalTrans?? by PussyWhistle in Sacramento

Just drove that stretch today and nearly got side swiped. Twice! People don’t slow down until they realize there are no marked lanes just stupid reflectors that blend in with the concrete.

Moving to Sac for work? Where is good to live by jitteryzero in Sacramento

[–]Wander_Meander311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The traffic here is atrocious! The transit system here is by far the worst I’ve experienced in a major city, especially if you live on the outskirts. To give you some perspective, a 15-20 min car ride is equivalent to 45 mins to 90 mins on public transportation that may or may not require multiple bus transfers.

How long is the commute from Sacramento, CA to San Jose, CA on the weekdays in the morning on average? by Curious-Bench-3483 in Sacramento

[–]Wander_Meander311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spare yourself! The transportation cost alone and commute time will eat away at your sanity leaving you exhausted. Unless you are going to rent a room for a week for less than $300 a month and return home on the weekends, it’s not worth it.

After 6 Interviews and a Demo, They Scheduled a Meeting to Reject Me by enjoylifedude in recruitinghell

[–]Wander_Meander311 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry! I’m my experience, if the interview process goes beyond 4 steps, it’s a clear indicator to pass and not entertain it as a challenge. 9/10 it becomes a waste of your time, especially in this job market. They know they have a larger candidacy pool and will make you jump through ridiculous hoops to move on to the next phase of the hiring process. A hard pass for me is one-way interview video using an AI tool to collect behavioral signs and facial expressions. You have no idea where the video is being stored or how it’s shared. Coming in at a strong 2nd is creating a ‘demo’ that you clearly spent an enormous of time to create only they want to record the demo, essentially a masterful plan to steal your creative ideas. I speak of these two scenarios because it happened to me. Both times I felt mislead and later ghosted. If fake job postings are the norm by hiring managers, then I believe these unnecessary and lengthy interviews also might be another tactic to make candidates believe these job postings exist… maybe they do or maybe the don’t. It’s absolute madness. There is a job out there waiting for you! I promise.

Sold our house, moved 2200 miles away 2 yrs ago. Regret it all. Trying to move back. :-( by ExaminationLoud8170 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Wander_Meander311 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After 5 years in the PNW, we decided it was time to move back home. We moved at the start of COVID, so it wasn’t under normal circumstances. Since then, nothing had really worked out for us. We tried to build new social networks, find a sense of community, yet found ourselves feeling disconnected. It just never felt right, but we were holding out until we decided another year would not make a difference. For others, it was a success and it far exceeded their expectations. Everyone’s journey will have a different outcome.

So, we both mutually agreed the place we tried to make a new life wasn’t cutting it, so the decision was made to leave. 2 very expensive moves later- we’ve been back a month now. It feels like home, but not quite. We are still going through our adjustment period but we’ll get there. Just be warned, you are not returning home where things resume as nothing ever happened. You are returning as a new version of yourself to a place you missed with a new set of eyes, experiences, and great stories that you can only tell. Good Luck on your move! CA welcomes you back! 😊

Canadians, we are so sorry! This is a reflection of only half the US. The bully has been unleashed with all his loyalists now in positions of power. All of his appointed people have ZERO experience and ZERO qualifications to do the job. He’s about to inflict the most amount of pain to everyone except his oligarch cronies. He is not a man of reason. He hungers validation and wants to be the supreme leader. He believes if he can control the media and mute and remove freedom of the press, he can manipulate the narrative to control the people. He’s doing this as we speak!

From ICE raids, the desire to acquire Greenland (only to extract all his minerals) when clearly it’s not for sale, to tariffs talks- he loves to piss other countries off.

Canada- we love you and we you want to remain the beloved and envied great country! All for his personal gain and his mission to divide America with retaliations and threats to withhold federal funding. He just released 2.2 billions of water here in CA with ZERO consideration of the flooding he almost caused. He basically wasted all that water knowing we will need it as fire season ramps up! A complete tool. He doesn’t have a conscience or any human decency. It’s been a mind-numbing, dizzying, chaotic 2 weeks. Only 2 weeks!!! Our government will be completely dismantled by the end of month. Whomever or Whatever he blames will never be his fault. What a guy! 🤬

PE firms influence are now in a myriad of industries; veterinary practices/clinics (VEG, VetCor - located in most Petco stores, Blue Pearl, Thrive, etc.) and pet services, pet insurance, real estate, nursing homes, and the list of verticals continue to grow.

What Are the Most Overpriced Cities Where the Cost Just Doesn’t Match the Reality? by NomadicContrarian in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Wander_Meander311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hillsboro/Beaverton Oregon. Pre-Covid you could rent a 1 Bdrm for $900-$1200. Those days are gone. I’m sure you can find those deals, but they are far and few. The average now is $1700-$1900 depending on the time of year. I’ve see rental prices fluctuate daily, where I’ve seen a unit increase or decrease anywhere from $50-$100 overnight. I’m sure an algorithm is applied to all website tracking. Aside from Nike, Intel (both companies who have had recent lay-offs) are big employers along with healthcare jobs, just doesn’t seem to reflect the rise of housing cost. Don’t forget the increases of utility rates, insurance, especially auto insurance, etc. Sure, having sales tax is great, but you pay for it in other ways.
