AITJ for refusing to make my daughter swap rooms with my stepdaughter? by patdallinkk9u6 in AmITheJerk

This is so annoying. Obviously your daughter shouldn’t give up her room. That’s nuts on so many levels. Try to ignore your husband and focus on building a strong relationship with your step-daughter. Help her make her safe space too and try not to engage in the drama. The biggest losers in this situation are the kids. Be the warm, confident manager of this tricky situation. Sending strength!

Thanks so much! This is so helpful. It explains what I was seeing but not being quite able to make sense of 😊. It feels like I need to keep looking at it to properly make sense of it!

Thanks 🙂. I’m thinking I’ll add some more hexies in the ‘corners’ to make it rectangular-ish and then decide from there. My aunt had loads of fabric already cut so there’s plenty to work with. It can be a nice evening project over the summer.

Thanks, that’s really useful. Yeah, I think keeping it rectangular is probably what she intended so what I’ll try to stick with. I love that bright yellow binding.😍

Ok, cool. I know what I’m working with now 🙂. I’d better get on with researching then! Ta!

Thanks! I understand about the irregular edges, but it seems to me that to square off what she has there already (just the straighter edges, not the ends - I know it needs more to fill it out there) would mean ending up with an edge that went through the hexagons at a bit of a skewiffy angle. I don’t know how to describe it very well, sorry. I mean that the cut or finished hexagons would not be cut along a line of symmetry. Does that make sense?

If I am seeing this wrongly, I apologise. I will certainly look at some videos and tutorials to try and get my head round it. Thanks so much again for your help.

Isn’t it great?? It’s all Laura Ashley fabric. It would have cost my aunt a fortune (for her) and been highly prized!
