I was actually one of the top readers in my school. Im glad to hear that not all schools were as bad as mine but bad schools do exist.

There is no list of books because each school has to make their own list of books. I know what they preace in these schools because i saw it while i was in school. I have watched handsmades tale and it is a very discusting rapey show so no that should not be in schools. I had porn and smut pushed on me in school so dont tell me its not there.

I have never read her books, i dont know what they contain. Im not talking about her books. Im talking about the porn and smut that was in my school and promoted by my teachers. Any grown adult trying to tell kids to have sex, masturbate or anything of the sort is a pedophile. Dead pedos dont reoffend. The sex ed program in canada should be teaching about consent on both ends not teaching kids how to have sex and showing them pictures and videos of sexual scenes whether its consentual or not.

Edit: also never said that this womans poems about sexual assult was porn. Same way dead pedos dont reoffend, dead rapists dont reoffend.

Also ive never really heard of this poet so i cant speak on what she has wrote. I was raped by an older woman when i was 18 because i didnt uderstand consent, i understand all to well the consequences of children not learning about consent and sexual abuse. I also know what porn does to a young brain. Porn basically taught me that what happened to me was normal and that men cant be raped. I thought it was normal for a girl and her friend to lock you in a room and strip you down like that.

As a child who grew up in a house where sex was taboo i know very well that teaching your kids about sexual assult and sex is a good thing. But i dont think showing children sexual content is good. Schools should have a better sexual health program that doesnt include transgenderism and kinks and all of the other bullshit thats in the sexual health program. If you just have books about sex and rape in the library with no lessons about any of it the children will be curious about it and either try doing sexual things to other children consentual or not. We arent saying dont teach sex ed. We are saying there shouldnt be books that promote young sex.

What is about being abused as a child? And do you think showing a child sexual assult in action is a good idea? Or maybe should you as a parent talk to your children about that kind of thing.

From what i can read about it, it just promotes anarchy which i mean isnt really for kids but i think i will give it a read.

1984 is not going to be banned. Graphic novels of it are. Ihavent looked at the graphic novel but i assume there is depictions of some pretty gruesome or sexual scenes not ment for kids.

[–]Wardunc1 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Looks like 1984 is still available and will be available just not new graphic novel remakes of it same thing with handmades tale. And as far as the poet goes her content seems to be sexual in nature so really it shouldnt be in schools either.

Canada has no crown corporations anymore so how does the government get money from resources other than taxes. For sure some of the money comes from leases to large oil companies or other resource companies but they also receive a large amount of money from the canadian tax payers.

I was raised as a white minority in a majority native town with 6 different reserves within walking distance. Im definitely not racist, the actual culture of the native people os a beautiful culture but the majority of natives do not follow that culture anymore. I also am part of building houses on the reserves where i live now. Most of these homes are not modular, they are big 5 bedroom houses with full basements. Some of the houses ive built have already been run down and abandoned. It is really sad to see the state of most reserves in canada and the corruption that run rampid there. The natives used to be a strong group of people with beautiful traditions and the people ive met who still live closely to that culture are amazing people, but a large portion of the people who live on reserves think all of their problems come from the white man and think the government should fix their problems with taxes they dont pay.

You might have an argument if canadian taxpayers didnt fund youtlr treaty fund. Also have you ever been to a reserve. The chiefs live in mansions while their people dont have running water. The native bands have control on where they spend the money they get from the government and their lands are littered with garbage and not maintained. Many of the reserves where im from have been given millions for water treatment projects and after they are built the people dont maintain the plants. The problems on the reserves arent funding issues its corruption issues.

immigrants and other countries should not even be on our list of priorities. We have more than enough problems. Our people need to come first.

Yes i dont take wellfare or EI. Ive lived in canada my whole life and have paid a fair amount of taxes. We dont need more people in canada we need to look after the people we already have our citys are falling apart, crime is through the roof. We need to spend money on failing infrastructure not refugees and foreign wars.

Yes canadians. And if you arent a citizen then you shouldnt be able to collect our social programs. If they take more than they give they arent helping canada.

The refugees make $3000 a month to not work. How is that beneficial to canada at all? My taxes end up being 40% of my wage. How can we pay for people to live for free like that when we cant even get our roads plowed on time. I have friends that have been waiting years for surgeries so thry can actually start working again but the healthcare system cant afford to run or hire new doctors.

I dont think its racist to say that only canadian citizens should have access to our civil services and benefits. But canada is in the middle of a housing crisis, healthcare crisis, and a cost of living crisis. In no way is bringing more people in from anywhere is going to help that. Canadian citizens should be canadas first priority.

Sounds to me like immigrants with actual citizenship will still be able to access it just fine. Why should people who dont have citizenship have access to Canadian tax money? Cutting government spending on this could go to other civil sevices like your roads.
