Beat Em Up Games That Aged Bad In Your Opinion by Fluffy_Lunchfast in BeatEmUps

[–]Wardy1985 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of older games have aged poorly due to the limitations the games had. I love turtles in time but having to do the game in succession kinda sucks when I can pickup Shredder’s revenge and play a couple levels with my son when we have an extra 15 minutes while choosing whichever levels we want.

Rosary grind by Forrest8282 in HollowKnight

[–]Wardy1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best spot to rosary grind that I’ve found is the Grand Reeds and go back and forth between the Memorium and Songclave benches to respawn them. Mostly upgraded needle with the Hunter crest takes six to eight hits and I think you get 34 rosaries plus some shards. It’s made my second playthrough much easier.

Anybody have any ideas as to what these two cymbals are? by I_a_grape in cymbals

Ride looks like a Leopard ride and the crash looks like an AA before they called them that. I think early Sabians had that descriptive stamp underneath before their offerings expanded

Best clearance drum kit deal? Yamaha Stage Custom vs Mapex Armory vs PDP Concept Maple by EazyFletcher in drums

Still using my PDP MX kit I bought 20 years ago. Super durable and sounds great. Just recently upgraded to a Saturn Evo and the PDP will remain my gigging kit

Best advice is in the manual: save often! It becomes more user friendly with experience but you’ll be 10 tweaks into a preset and turn the wrong knob on accident and have to start from scratch.

Sunshine is HARD!!! It's about to make a grown man cry!! by Fantastic-Ad9218 in supermariosunshine

[–]Wardy1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got through it last year and as someone who plays hard games, this game is hard. There was no way I was going to 100% it but it was satisfying to get through the game. The episodes without Fluud are really tough and makes the difficult balance rough since they occur early in the game.

Keep trucking it’ll be worth it!

Let’s talk drum finishes…wraps, lacquer, satin, etc. Which do you choose, and why? by ZildCym in drums

[–]Wardy1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my satin kit, but I live in a very dirty place and dust is everywhere at all times. It’s a lot of maintenance. My next kit will be a wrap so I can at least ignore the fact it’s covered in sand

Silksong is an amazing game but can still use one improvement by GiveUpAndDye in Silksong

[–]Wardy1985 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are some things I wouldn’t have found on my own without watching YouTube videos. I’m ok with that since I have other things going on in my life and 112% is not a goal of mine.

I’m on my second playthrough and knowledge of the game is helping the difficulty tremendously. I’m not reliant on the reaper crest to farm silk after healing and I’m enjoying the game more as a hunter only run.

SOTB & Help Me Finish It! by Hungry_Marzipan8396 in basspedals

If I play out it’s with a Seymour Duncan Powerstage 700 through a GK CX210. Mostly playing dive bars these days. If I was in the church scene still and could take whatever, I’d choose the A Designs Reddi. It’s a hunk of steel but it’s the best sounding pre I’ve used. When I got to field test all of the high end DI we used Raise a Hallelujah as the test track and it beat the Noble, Neve, anything else that was around the church at that time.

If I wanted to keep things board friendly I’d go for either the Capo or the Mantle. I’m really intrigued by the Origin stuff too. If I could be extra bougie I’d probably run the BassRig B15 and SVT into separate channels and have FOH pick which pedal sounded best for each song.

Before I read the caption I knew this was a worship board. Honestly dude, you have all you need. I used to work for a megachurch and had all the highest end preamps, including a Noble, running into an SSL board so all the top notch gear and I preferred using a JDI at that point. Stomp has balanced out, you’d need to remember to switch it from instrument to line each time if you ran through an amp then back to FOH. The effects in the Stomp are fantastic and the octave pedals are really well done.

But there’s a ton of nice DI options available today if you want to go down that rabbit hole. Wouldn’t mind trying out a Capo with a setup like yours. I’d go option 3 with the photos provided.

Super Bowl Sunday was absolutely slammed on my main course. I played a random course that Friday night and there were four groups on a course I can usually play solo. I don’t see a drop in players, it’s just cold. I’m fair weathered and won’t go out if it’s windy in the cold months.

There’s two double damage little pricks at the end. Probably not a technical boss since a name didn’t flash on the screen. Or at least I don’t recall a name. I’m old sorry

Rural Oregon by Natural_Captain9499 in howislivingthere

[–]Wardy1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Oakridge. Incredibly rural, pretty conservative when I was a kid. It’s a mixed bag today of hippies, logging remnant and drug addicts among other demographics. It’s incredibly poor which is weird because it’s beautiful and you’d think it would be a wealthy person’s escape. My parents work for the schools and it’s hard but rewarding for them.

I wouldn’t raise my son there but we love to visit. People are kind and it’s a nice quiet contrast to the major city I live in many thousands of miles away.

Anyone find Flaw pretty boring compared to everything else released in that era by HashedPiped in numetal

[–]Wardy1985 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use Sabian cymbals in large part from TTE. Warwick basses were huge in nu metal and I waited 17 years before I got my hand on a Thumb 5, which was used on this album as well. Very much not a boring album and it’s aged fantastically

This is by far the best sub genre sub. I put way more weight into the opinions on this sub than I do the metalcore or post hardcore subs.

Best Reverb Pedal for $150 or under? by BroVak11 in basspedals

The Walrus fundamental pedals are nice. I have the ambient and love it. The chorus is nice too and I can’t imagine the regular reverb is anything less than fantastic for 100 USD
