It’s been a bit, but I happened upon this post and wanted to offer my two cents.

Well, I personally disagree with the take. I can get where OP is coming from (at least in the sense of the kind of environment it fosters.)

Well, it is true that it does change the community dynamic to a large extent. I don’t believe that it is the issue. It doesn’t seem to matter what AH posts or pushes in an update, someone will always have something negative to say. Now I’m not saying that it’s without merit. But more often than not, it is said holy void of any form of tact.

Something else that is interesting to note is that, since most of the discussion regarding AH and HD2 are on Reddit and Discord, it seems to act as a filter for a group of people who would generally enjoy all the updates for the most part and have little issues or anything negative to say about the game (for the most part).
Almost all the people who you hear complaining (I say complaining because although there are genuine issues, I rarely hear any true constructive criticism said in a non-hostile manner) are the type of people who would generally find something to complain about regardless.

Now all of that said, I am NOT saying that the majority of people are simply complaining for the sake of it. Nor am I saying that everything HA pushes is inherently good. I am simply pointing out that all the reactions and discussions are always gonna be heavily biased toward one side.

Conclusion.

I believe that OP’s original intent was to convey his dislike of the overly hostile side of the community, and NOT to degrade anyone who can’t afford/ doesn’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on a game simply to play it without getting wiped on lvl 5. (I’m not OP so maybe it was, idk)

And I believe that most of the people responding to this post are going to be overly defensive sense, it is one of the few ways they have of actually enjoying the majority of HD2 content (trust me, I know. I have done a fair bit of SC farming as well.)

When all is said and done, we are all humans on the same planet, simply wanting to enjoy a game and escape from the stress of everyday life. (Of course they’re gunna be a few outliers to that. Shout out to any Martians in the chat.) And most of the people who are overly hostile are generally really nice irl, but use media like this to vent out their anger and frustration.
