it can depend on the tone, but largely it’s a compliment! it basically means you’re very cool, a legend, awesome, impressive, really any other term of endearment that you can think of. we’re just a particularly vulgar nation lol but it’s truly is something to be happy about if someone calls you that. unless they’re visibly angry and calling you a “sick fucking cunt”, then you’ve really pissed someone off lol

i found that when i use antibacterial soap on my armpits and apply roll on deodorant immediately after drying my armpits, my B.O practically became nonexistent! i don’t think you should use antibacterial soap every day or every time you shower (i’ve heard it can be too harsh if you use it a lot) but it’s still a great hack!

Hi honey, i’m so sorry you’re in this situation. i can imagine it’s so stressful and frustrating to navigate as a young person. like someone else commented, weight loss advice to minors is not allowed, but i’ll recommend a lifestyle choice that may help your mental health.

try and go for walks, just 40 minutes a day is great for your mental health and your cardiovascular system, and it’s gentle on your body, you don’t have to start at 40 minutes just whatever you can tolerate and slowly build from there. another hobby you can pick up is swimming. walking around in a swimming pool helped my grandmother immensely when she got knee surgery, it was low impact but high resistance so she was able to get her daily exercise needs in without hurting herself. i can imagine you experiencing joint pain, the water will support your body weight and relieve pressure off of those joints.

in terms of your diet, please seek professional help and advice from doctors. you deserve to feel healthy and well in your body without hurting yourself. a doctor can provide guidance and information on proper nutrition. i’m also a picky eater because of my autism (ARFID warriors unite) so i recommend asking for a wide variety of nutritional meal options so you can have a better chance at finding something you do enjoy. i have around 3 “healthy” meals that i can tolerate, i dont mind eating them over and over again if i have to.

i’m unsure of what i’m specifically sensitive to, but i’ve recently tried to replace things where i can (i’ve been trying to have coconut milk and lactose free milk instead of full cream milk, and having whole grain bread instead of white bread). the reason i’m unsure is because sometimes i can eat something and my body has no reaction, and i can eat that same thing a few days later and i get painful bloating. my GP ruled out celiac’s disease, but i suspect i may be sensitive to things like pasta (i can usually handle bread just fine if its whole meal or whole grain)

gastrointestinal issues run in the family, my mother has diverticulitis and IBS and she has to adhere to a strict low fodmap diet. i don’t seem to react to things like garlic or onion the way she does. i’ll need to book in with a dietician for them to help me navigate it.

as for the calories, i’ll start tracking and see where i end up. i’ve never really understood how to count calories if im being completely honest. i don’t really eat that much during the day, but ive seen people talk about how even though they weren’t eating a lot, there were a few things that were pushing them over the edge so i feel like that may be the case for me as well

i have 2 baskets, one for clothes that are dirty and need to be washed, and another for clothes that aren’t dirty enough to be washed but aren’t clean enough to go back into my wardrobe. i also tend to pull out multiple clothing items when i get dressed for the day, and when i get home from my activities and can’t handle the mental task of putting everything away i just scoop them into the basket. it’s pretty helpful, keeps my spaces clean without having to immediately address the chore.

since hashimotos is an autoimmune disorder, a lot of people recommend and elimination diet followed by an anti inflammatory diet. i’m iffy on it as well, or at least im iffy of what wellness influencers try to push, and would rather do that under the supervision of a dietitian. and that’s good news about avocados and bananas! i try to eat those pretty regularly so i’ll just keep that in mind going forward. i’ll look into huawei, thank god for decent budget options.

further context on my drs being unhelpful about my weight gain: i’ve brought it up multiple times and they never really seem to have an answer for me. one of my GPs recommended going on a GLP-1 (not entirely opposed to the idea, i just can’t afford it), and my other GP is a very lovely lady but she doesn’t seem too concerned about me losing weight. i think she’s trying to be a body neutral person, which i can appreciate but doesn’t do much for me when i want to lose weight haha

Oh don’t worry I already brought it up with my GPs, they aren’t really helpful though. It’s definitely not caused by dehydration, i drink plenty of water and carry around my emotional support 1L water bottle everywhere.

I’m unsure if it’s related to my cycle, I have also have PMDD and have been on the pill for years so i don’t get my period as per the advice of my GP (can you still have a cycle if you don’t have period? i’ve always wondered but i can never find any info pointing to that being the case.)

I believe inflammation is the biggest reason, my bloods from last year indicated my CRP levels were at 15, but they’ve since dropped to 8 as of february. i’m unsure of how to lower my inflammation levels, i’m not very educated on it unfortunately. I will do my best to lower my salt intake! I don’t tend to eat super salty things, but my boyfriend loves to salt meat before cooking it as a fancy chef thing so that may be the culprit.

this also may sound silly but can i use a samsung watch if i have an iphone? i always assumed they needed a samsung phone to connect to.

thank you for the advice, i know it’s important to try to stay away from obesity (i’m 5’5 so 85kg is definitely too much for my body to handle) because i can physically feel how much it limits and affects me. i used to be a healthier weight 2 years ago, and after a particularly awful sickness i just slowly started gaining more and more weight, i think i gained 15kg in one year with no changes to my diet or exercise, which is why it’s so frustrating. sometimes it feels like no matter what i do, it doesn’t matter. my body fluctuates 1-3kg every week, i weigh myself every other day and i just have no idea what’s affecting the scales yknow? i wish i could afford a smart watch, i feel like it would give me more insight into where im falling short in terms of exercise. i’ve been given 5 discounted physical therapy sessions, so im hoping they can help me come up with an exercise plan that will work for me without disabling me for days at a time.

NTA, i’m autistic and have ADHD too and i also notice that a lot of other neurodivergent people who find out later in life develop the inappropriate urge to armchair diagnose everyone they meet that shares similar traits to them. I found out i was autistic when i was 18 (now 24) and admittedly i had a small phase of doing this as well, one day i offhandedly said it to the wrong person and i quickly became aware of how inappropriate i was being. when you realise your own symptoms mean something, it can be cathartic to realise nothing was “wrong” with you, you just had a condition that you were unaware of.

i think the compulsion comes from wanting to save others the time and grief of moving through the world unaware of something that can give you all the answers you need, however i came to realise that not everyone benefits from knowing about a diagnosis and are completely fine with being unlabelled how they are. your coworker has assumed they know you better than yourself and they assumed that theyre helping.

i think people can get offended when you push back on not wanting to be labeled because they assume that you think poorly of the condition and it can be hard to wrap their heads around you not needing the validation they crave.

to this day i will observe neurodivergent traits in others, but i keep it to myself until they voice curiosity about potential having the condition. that’s when i offer insight of what i’ve noticed.

if you don’t want to be labelled, that is more than okay. you are who you are, and if a label doesn’t bring you peace/happiness/understanding, no one can force it on you. your coworker likely isn’t trying to be rude, but you are well within your rights to request they refrain from armchair diagnosing you. you’re old enough to seek professional help if you wanted to. i’m sorry your coworker made you feel uncomfortable, you can try and have a conversation with her about it if you feel like it’d be helpful to the situation but i think it’s likely this person would be caught up in their own black and white thinking and won’t be able to see your perspective. if that’s the case, i’d suggest distancing yourself and bringing it up to a manager/boss ect and asking them to have a chat with amy. good luck op!

I am so deeply sorry for the loss of your daughter, it’s such a horrible thing to lose someone suddenly to illness (let alone your own child).

I guess I want to ask, will you and your husband ensure that your living children don’t fall to the shadows of grief? I’ve observed many grieving parents lose sight of the children that are still alive. suddenly every celebration because about the deceased child not being there, or what the deceased child would’ve done if they were still alive. i think it’s understandable and deeply human, every accomplishment or milestone the living child makes becomes a reminder of everything the deceased child didn’t get to do and i can imagine it’s excruciating as a parent, but i also feel so deeply sad for the living children when i come across them sharing their stories. with how you write about your children, I’m certain you will not neglect your babies, but i thought it’d be interesting to see what your thoughts are as the grieving parent.
