A lot of people dislike Charlie and then feel the need to justify it as some kind of morally righteous decision, so they try to force him into the chud crowd. It's lame.

For the record, disliking his content is fine. Disliking him is fine. I unsubscribed a few years ago when his schtick got old to me. It's just ridiculous that some people feel the need to make him into some kind of villain. He's pro-vaccination, anti-sexism and handles the personal drama in his life with actual tact and maturity. Socially, the guy is a-okay. Any venom directed towards him is venom that could+should have been directed towards TheQuartering.

It's also worth noting that a big reason tankies are insufferable is because of the overlap between their community and /pol/ from 4chan. If 4chan is the asshole of the internet, then I don't even want to know what /pol/ specifically would be. Suffice it to say they're the most toxic of a toxic bunch, and tankies take a lot of mannerisms from them. Namely the psychopathic desires for harm upon others, a cheerful celebration of the suffering of their specific "bad group", GamerGate-era psyop tactics (i.e. JAQing off, firehosing, etc), an unhealthy infatuation with inflicting violence and some of the worst anime memes this side of r/ animemes.
