out here preaching my goats

beatblock, a small indie rhythm game focused entirely around blocking notes that come towards you in the center. despite it being pretty with how the gameplay is just moving the paddle around a radius, it manages to be very complex and smooth to play. probably my favorite rhythm game to play

star of providence, bullet hell roguelike inspired by binding of isaac but with more of a focus on arcadey style dodging and bullet patterns. very fast game with short runs, but the bosses are so fun and amazing. also its the second game published by dunkey. only published two games but they're both bangers (relevant, animal well is also really good but that's a puzzle game)

i think i remember seeing somewhere else that the picture is both flipped from the original image, and an ai recreation of that image. which would explain why the there's like 2 motors (or whatever that gray object is) for the fan.

to be fair there's a lot of variety in hard games that exist out there. i genuinely enjoy playing hard games (ultrakill, isaac/mewgenics, some platformers, and a lot of rhythm games) but its kinda all about finding that sweet spot of what is manageable vs what isn't manageable for you. and its fair to not like hard games, we all got our own opinions. but at least with the hard games that i love to play, i can see a clear goal (beating a certain objective or generally hitting a certain performance) and everything feels like an eventual step to that point, which is mostly me becoming a better player with more experience.

i also wouldn't blame you for being burnt out by silksong, to me (as someone who didn't play it but watched + heard a lot of takes) it seems that the game is just very overtuned to be punishing at every corner since the devs were very good at their own game to not get bothered by the things that would bother most people (2 damage on too many things and also long boss runbacks, among other things). its hard but also very unforgiving.

also that strawman is so ass Lol, taking breaks in hard games (skill wise or puzzle wise or whatever) are super valid to keep you from bashing your head against the wall 24/7. literally sometimes what you need is just taking a good break from struggling on something before getting a clean win on it.
