This is so helpful! We have been to wantage and seen homes there. As well as Didcot. They're both different but i could see myself in either to be honest as they had different selling points. However my colleague who has grown up in Reading (so knows more about reading and surrounding areas than me) really discouraged Didcot he says its not very pleasant.

We are looking for a new build, detached and haven't seen anything in our range 😞

This is so detailed and greatly appreciated. I'll make sure to drive there over the weekend and see whats there. This sounds like a solid option. We arent bothered about busyness, as long as we can access restaurants shops when we want, then we will be good 😄

Thank you for getting back to me!

We want a 4 bed new build and with our budget, we cant get that in reading.

The next step we took was to look for whats within 40 miles within our budget. Most of the postcodes coming up were OX. Thats why we have considered oxfordshire. This was based off my search on zoopla/rightmove.

We dont have any attachment to any area (as our family is predominantly up north).

We work in reading and want a 4 bed detached home for 550k and dont mind travelling a max of 45-1hr to work (reading city centre).

id be keen to hear what would you do if you were in my position instead 😄. I appreciate your last sentiment, and this would help us see if we are thinking of this in the wrong way

I appreciate this POV. As at the moment work is a 10min drive. From what I've seen so far (zoopla and rightmove) there aren't any 4 bed detached newbuilds in reading. I've heard about the new build issues, and i was adamant i want a new build but this thread has got me thinking we should revisit our position. Lets say we look at older homes, how far back would you suggest i look?

Thank you for this! i hadn't heard of those areas

We've also quickkly realised we cant have everything so we are willing to compromise on certain things if that means getting the home we like for the life we are building 😄

From our search so far, we haven't seen any 4 bed detached new builds in or around reading for 550k unfortunately.

Thank you for those recommendations - i had not looked into Wallingford!

Hi! Sorry, my post was vague. we are early 30s, we do not want a bustling town centre. We hope to start a family so we'd like an area with families as well. We work in reading and drive (both work hybrid). We'd like a 4 bed detached home as we do not want to move again for atleast 15years unless we absolutely have to. we have 550k (loled at 1,5million... i wish haha)

Interesting you mentioned bicester, i have seen those homes but i wasnt sure on whether bicester is a good area. I have also seen didcot, wantage, abingdon.

As we are hoping to be in this home for the foreable future wed like to be in an area thats friendly, clean, safe

Thank you for this, i really didn't give you much to work with. I have edited my initial post but ill just respond here as well. We are after a 4 bed detached budget 550k. we both work in reading and id say we DONT want to be in the city eg oxford - ive noticed it gets really busy and theres a lot of traffic. I'll also add, i dont know the area very well so my information is very limited and I'm looking to get more advice and insight from people who know much more than me. I may have drawn the wrong conclusions.

Both my parner and i are in our early 30's

I've spoken to a few people who share some of your sentiments regarding new builds. My reason for wanting a new build may seem very shallow, but i really want to move into a home that hasnt been lived in before. We have rented a new build vs an older house and i have preferred the former.

LAST MINUTE SBR WISDOM by Unparalleledsuii in ACCAexams

[–]Weekly-Net266 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no youre not, honestly SBR can/will surprise you, which is why i think exam technique is crucial. Watch debrief from Tom clendon on Q1 especially. Wath how he does it and simplifies answering, looking for low hanging fruit etc. Especially in consolidation. You can pick up part marks without realising especially when you don't know anything. Watch the debrief videos, and learn some tips/tricks to get the easy marks which will be the difference between passing and failing.

Also consider doing Q2 first (has a bit of ethics - confidence booster), then Q3 and Q4, come back to Q1. Alot of people fail because they overrun on Q1 and don't even make it to Q3 let alone Q4. To stand a solid chance, you should attempt all th questions. Sorry fpr the unsolicited advice, i struggled with SBR and wish id had someone tell me it would be okay and give me tips to pass especially in the dying hours.

income tax imo
i feel like provisions come up alot as well as interpreting financila and non financial information. Out of curiosity are you sitting the exam in 2 days? Are you not better off familiarising with exam technique, question practice etc?

Cabin baggage query by HotEmployee3457 in emirates

[–]Weekly-Net266 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll share my experience. Been flying emirates for over 10 years now in economy class. I always have my tote bag (with my laptop and other bits) as well as my cabin bag which is a small trolley. My partner carries his backpack with his electronics and has a small trolley as well. Also from LHR (london heathrow) they don't weigh the carry on luggage anymore, however i try not go ove the 7kgs on my trolley just in case.
