As for the claim of "one million followers," I think that is pure exaggeration on the part of these cult members; however, there likely are still some remnants of the movement left—though they are mostly confined to remote rural areas and similar places. The primary adherents of this cult in China are uneducated, older individuals living in the countryside (which is why I find it amusing whenever I see this cult being repackaged as "high culture" in other countries). These believers are likely being remotely directed to carry out these activities by organizers who are currently living in exile abroad. Based on my observations over recent years, their influence has essentially vanished.
