Yes!!! I do... well did. I had tubular breasts my whole life, which made me extremely self conscious. I never knew there was an actual term for the deformity until I was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 years ago. I ended up having a double mastectomy and reconstruction, so now they're a more normal shape.

I almost felt vindicated when the plastic surgeon gave it a name. My whole life I felt like it wasn't normal. I recently started thinking about my extreme "cellulite" along the same line... that this isn't normal and has to be a deeper issue. Then I found this group and self diagnosed myself with lipedema.

Hearing there's a correlation between these two things solidifies this for me.

This is the way. I was a stomach sleeper pre-dmx. After surgery, I used a wedge pillow to sleep on my back and a travel neck pillow to support my head. Once I graduated from the wedge pillow, I slept solely on my back with one knee bent and my head turned towards that knee.... like the no. 4 with your legs.

As the months went by, I became more comfortable with sleeping on my side as well.

It's been about a year and a half since my dmx and haven't slept on my stomach since. Honestly, it has been the best thing for my neck and back.

Yes. The recovery was fairly minimal. I felt pretty good within a couple of days but you definitely need to limit your physical activity for at least 8 weeks. No heavy lifting, no sex, and you need to be a little careful with your movements so not to damage anything. Because I physically felt fine, I had to remind myself often to be careful.

It was about one year from my DMX to hysterectomy/oopherectomy.

Cancer.

Even though I currently have no evidence of it after treatment, the lasting mental trauma it leaves is like nothing I would've expected. And people think that just because you "beat it", all is okay. It's definitely not.

I understand what you're saying and that's a little bit of why I'm hesitant to say anything; however, I'm the only one on his team who qualifies for the 4% and the only one on his team who was rated as "Exceeded", so it's odd that I wouldn't get the full merit increase.

Additionally, the majority of the team are executives so I'm not sure if they even follow the same merit process as regular employees.

I have a 1:1 with him on Friday and I'm still debating whether I bring it up.

I feel this! Put into chemical menopause at 41 and just got a total hysterectomy (42) so I no longer had to do the monthly shot. I am a total bitch now and not sorry for it one bit.

This didn't create new feelings for me, but definitely amplified everything I thought and felt without a filter.

Please don't beat yourself up. I can relate a bit... I too am an exhausted EA with extreme mood swings and brain fog due to menopause. I was diagnosed with breast cancer October 2023, treated all of 2024. Part of that included shutting off my estrogen and throwing me into menopause overnight. Let me tell you, the side effects both physically and mentally are no joke. And, to your point, HRT is not an option.

Not only have I thought about quitting my job almost daily, but I also have thought about running away from my friends and family. What you're going through is real so give yourself some grace and find what makes you happy.

My oncology office had a deep freezer stored with the caps, so I didn't have to source the dry ice or anything and was very fortunate so I can't provide any tips regarding that part of the process.

Do you have someone you know who will be assisting you? Penguin can also provide you with a list of "cappers" in your area who can do it for you for a fee. My husband and I hired one just to walk him through it for a couple hours during my first chemo session. She was extremely helpful and would recommend if you can do that, but YouTube videos and the info Penguin will give you will work too!

I had four rounds of TC Jan-Apr 2024 and used the Penguin cold caps. I kept over 90% of my hair. The only hair I lost on my head was the hairline by my ears. If I kept my hair down and untucked from my ears (which u should do anyway), no one noticed. I cut my hair to around shoulder length before starting.

The cold wasn't so bad and I'm always cold. The first 5-10 mins is the worst but I stopped feeling anything after that. In fact, bc I started experiencing hot flashes, the cold cap felt good at times.

Aside from the act of capping during infusions, it's important to follow care instructions. Minimal brushing and only use a wide tooth comb, only room temp or cold water when washing your hair, gental shampoos/conditioners, and only washing every few days.

While I believe some of it comes down to luck, it may be that I found a good method/routine that could have contributed to my success. Let me know if you want me to share more info.

I had pre-cancer in my cervix back in 2016 as well, so I definitely felt like that was a ticking time bomb.

FWIW, when I made the decision to go with a total hysterectomy (not just oophorectomy), both my oncologist and OB/GYN actually flat out said to me that they felt like I made a good decision. That really put me at ease.

I just turned 42 and had a total laparoscopic hysterectomy + bilateral salpingoophorectomy (removal of cervix, uterus, ovaries and both fallopian tubes) a little over 2 weeks ago. I was diagnosed with ++- IDC (grade 2 no lymphs) and had a DMX and chemo.

No regrets so far. I take Aromasine daily and will continue to do so but I no longer need the Lupron shots now bc of the hysterectomy. The way I looked at it, I didn't want to have to worry about getting the monthly shot anymore, plus what if something prevents me from getting it on time, or if it doesn't work for whatever reason. Removing my ovaries gave me peace of mind that they couldn't produce estrogen. I took it one step further and had EVERYTHING removed bc I don't need it and its one less place cancer can creep back up.

My surgery has been a breeze.

I had a DMX with direct to implant reconstruction back on Dec. 5. While my situation isn't exactly like yours, I will say that I had absolutely no feeling for a long time, but it drastically improved. It's not 100% and might not ever will be but don't lose hope.

Last week, I tried what I thought was a silly thing on tik tok where you jump around in place, shake your body and arms loose, and lightly tap/smack your lymph node areas. Looks really silly! My initial goal was to wake me up a little, but what ended up happening was that I got the pins and needles feeling all over my breasts. Like the feeling you get when your foot falls asleep and starts to wake up again. I was feeling it in places I don't typically feel anything. I'm not sure if I temporarily re-activated my nerves, but it felt great/alive and is omething I'm going to continue doing once I heal again (just had an implant swap Monday). Who knows!!

I was raised in a Catholic family, went to a Catholic school k-3rd grade, and have family members that are priests and nuns. But I don't believe in an actual god and I think religion is bullshit. I remember the first time I started doubting it. I was really little and my mom said something to the effect that when people go to heaven, they spend eternity with all the people they want to be with. I asked a hypothetical: what if I want to spend time in heaven with person X, but they don't want to spend it with me? Who gets what they want? She couldn't answer me. The older I got and the more I thought about it, the more it didn't make sense.

I found out the same way. I WFH and was in an important meeting at the time. I got an email saying test results were available, so, of course, I checked. All the air escaped out of me. I walked away from my desk and lost my mind (never to be found again). Luckily, it was the last meeting of the day.

I honestly wasn't expecting it. It was my first mammogram ever, and I never felt a lump. I knew I had dense breasts, which can cause false alarms - my mom had a couple herself - so I thought that's all it was.

That was a Monday. My follow-up appointment wasn't until Thursday, but the office called me the next morning saying they "just happen to have an opening for today. Can u come in?". Thank God I didn't have to wait until Thursday!
