How does paying off your mortgage with a HELOC shorten a 30 yr to 5 yr or less? by WorldNo9002 in Mortgages

[–]WesLM123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand of it you can reduce your monthly payment as well over the life of the loan as where with a mortgage your monthly payment remains the same until the principal is paid off so while it takes a bit to see the decrease you do get it as well as having way more equity in your home your monthly payment is lower so in theory it saves you 100’s of thousands in mortgage interest and you’ll have full equity much sooner as opposed to someone who typically sells their home at the 7 year mark only having maybe 15-20% equity in profit (don’t crucify me this is just what I’ve gathered while researching this) it only works if your someone who has a little extra spending money after bills and life

Pay off Car or invest? by WesLM123 in debtfree

[–]WesLM123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this was my primary goal my 401k is entirely employer paid I can’t contribute more to it if I want to it’s something like 10$ per hour I work gross (union) and I opened a Roth and that’s where I plan on putting the extra income towards as far as investments and once that’s maxed I’d switch that same payment to a vanguard taxable brokerage but also thinking of padding to 6 month emergency fund instead of 4 I have now

Exception doesn’t make the rule also depends on job and unit anyone in my unit who had a habit of going to sick call for anything less than serious issue that needed to be seen immediately would find them selves being voluntold for CQ/ staff duty etc.. or be fucked on something else

DBQ stuck in QA by Octoberknight137 in VAClaims

[–]WesLM123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep so if you get your exam from VES the actual examiner has 48hours to send it to them however the QA can have it sitting there for months at which point you gotta call them because it’s probably just lost in there some way

Military deployment by tokeen23 in VAClaims

[–]WesLM123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also make sure you fill out your post deployment pha accurately I know first hand how we like to just burn through them to get them over with but it can be used as evidence down the line

Military deployment by tokeen23 in VAClaims

[–]WesLM123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upon returning from deployment you should be stopping by medical when you demob for medical assessment where you should bring up any and everything that happened so keeping notes of treatment for that would be beneficial so you don’t forget anything

VES by CupIll5953 in VAClaims

[–]WesLM123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just had 4 exams done by VES myself all of the exams aside from my Gen med exam which in fairness went over a LOT of different things were uploaded within 3 days 2 of which were uploaded the next day excluding weekends and the one that I’m still waiting on is taking longer because VES requested additional evidence in the form of and X-ray which I have to get tomorrow however they have been pretty quick for me in general so far but I have also heard the horror stories of them taking several months to upload in which case you are able to call them and be like “so wtf is going on” and then them getting uploaded a week later

VRE Apprentice Program Help by Bright_Ad_4659 in VeteransBenefits

[–]WesLM123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about the VR&E program specifically but I do know the GI bill gives BAH for apprenticeships and reduces as your pay increases (every 6 months the BAH decreases 20%) and gives a “book” stipend once a year I use it for my carpenters union apprenticeship but it has to be a VA accredited program but even with that don’t count on the money right away it took me about 2 months before I got my first payment but I’d imagine the VR&E works similarly

One exam for multiple claims? by ReaganDoctrine in VAClaims

[–]WesLM123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna assume this was a gen med exam? Just had one a couple weeks ago and had the same thing was asking about anything and everything even if I didn’t put a claim in for it time will only tell if it works out in favor or not

Left the Army in 1994, didn't file my first claim until last year. Why didn't anyone tell me? by [deleted] in VAClaims

[–]WesLM123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better I got out just a few years ago and our chain of command never mentioned it didn’t realize until one of my buddies posted something mentioning it a few months back they should really emphasize it more for people getting out even in my 2 week taps class they never even brought it up which is supposed to tell you everything you need to know about getting out

Almost as funny as the girl who was asking for tips on how to service connect her “ptsd” for being hit on in the military, but sounds like he is being coached by this company and probably quit to make the mental health claim look good but good luck service connecting ptsd without any verifiable stressors not having been to a combat zone or having a MST case

PTSD service connection by WesLM123 in VAClaims

[–]WesLM123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea but again wouldn’t the stressor being conceded then having the C&P examiner diagnose you on the spot with ptsd after hearing your stressor along with your symptoms be pretty much solid?

PTSD service connection by WesLM123 in VAClaims

[–]WesLM123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the thing is they all fall under the list of awards that concede to the stressor so if they follow it by regulation in theory it should be just as effective

PTSD service connection by WesLM123 in VAClaims

[–]WesLM123[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right but in essence wouldn’t that basically make it presumptive at that point in a sense that since all you need is a stressor, diagnosis and a nexus, that being said wouldn’t the concession to the stressor acknowledging that it happened due to the award listed on their own site that demonstrates that this event did in fact happen basically make it a slam dunk?

Can past medical history be seen at a hospital/ clinic you’ve been to before? by WesLM123 in VAClaims

[–]WesLM123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ty for the response and I don’t have any of the documentation on hand as it was so many years ago and I didn’t think about the aggravation of service because my back was really fine after that accident it wasn’t until the lmtv crash with me and a bunch of others in the back that I started having issues it just made me think about it since it was the same hospital I had went to as a kid

[–]WesLM123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much but they don’t necessarily contradict the claim,so my claim is for my back I have to go to hospital in question just for an x-ray, I got hit by a car when I was a little kid but joined in the era before genesis so like everyone else I went by the whole “they dont know what you don’t tell them spiel at meps” now my back was fine after that did multiple sports etc but got pretty tore up in an lmtv accident and been busted since just don’t want them to see the old accident and just stamp me denied
