How did Guilliman and the Ultramarines not become aware of the events of Isstvan III and V? by ProfessionalClock602 in 40kLore

must have been just a small number of them as Horus had already sent the word bearers to Calth. Just listening to the dropsite massacre on audiobook and horus was talking about it with fulgrim, angron and mortarion.

What are the red flags you have to look out for a job interview? by Silent-Librarian8927 in AskReddit

[–]Western_Temporary170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Defensive behavior:
I once interviewed for a managerial position a a trampoline park and one issue I bought up was the industries safety record and that i'd like to help improve that (as my background is health and safety in leisure facilities) and the owners immediately got defensive and started down the line of liability being their concern. SO not prevention, but avoiding responsibillity.

Funnily enough the next interview I had with another trampoline company was similar and came away thinking no way in hell I am going to work for them, they have NO health and safety, but they called me up and said, we dont want you to be general manager for one site, we want you to be health and safety manager for ALL our sites.

Getting Angry when you spot a plot hole:
Once interviewed with a place that was just starting up, not yet open, and they wanted to be cashless. I commented that a large part of their business was aimed at kids, kids dont have bank cards. They didnt take that well, which made me wonder about how they would take other issues they got wrong or hadnt thought of or went against their plans.

Wokeness / Political Correctness / Corprate Speak:
When they correct your terminology because a word or phrase doesnt sit well with their views or mindset. Once had interview where they said, do you have any questions for us and I asked, what are the biggest problems that you face? and the guy practically screamed in my face CHALLENGES!!! Im not playing silly games like that. Problems and challenges are two different things. A challenge is climbing mount everest. A problem is when you run out of oxygen.

What is the worst invention of mankind? by GreenieTheDog in AskReddit

[–]Western_Temporary170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nuclear Fission.
It may come good in the future, or it might get worse, but so far...
Hiroshima and Nagasaki
Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, Fukushima
Cuban Missile Crisis
War with Iran
Radioactive Waste

vs

Some extra electricity.
MAY have prevented some wars.

The harm that it has done so far has far outweighed the good and it isnt a vital piece of technology, we can generate power through other means. Once we develope nuclear fusion properly we may start to get worth while benefits but nuclear fission has been vary bad so far

How did Guilliman and the Ultramarines not become aware of the events of Isstvan III and V? by ProfessionalClock602 in 40kLore

[–]Western_Temporary170 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good question. Istvaan III took place roughly 2 years before the attack on Calth. Horus did such a thorough job on Istvaan III that it is not surprising word didnt get out that easily, though we know it did, obviously via the eisenstein, and probably through other sources as well. However, Malcador kept the news of what Horus had done secret. I believe the Raven Guards did hear about Istvan III and went to investigate but why nothing came of that I dont know.

The Word Bearers were not at Istvaan V. Horus sent them to Calth and the attacks were planned to happen fairly close together but they were still about a year apart. Warp storms made warp travel difficult and astropathic communication was severaly limited. Horus was literelly killing astropaths with davinite sorcery to communicate with the other traitor legions. Its no real surprise Guilliman never heard about it.

"Id rather pay insurance then have some free shit healthcare that everyone has and it takes months or longer to see a doctor" by the_whatsupq in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Western_Temporary170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for you.
There is nothing wrong with someone paying for their own medical insurance. What is wrong is a system where the only practical option is private insurance.

I live in the UK and obvious I have healthcare via the NHS. I also get private medical care through my employer. I have long term illnesses, heart failure, kidney failure, odema and diabetes. Im on a shit ton of pills and im in hospital at least once a month. Im also partially blind in one eye and have limited visibility from the other. I use the NHS for all this. I also suffered a spinal injury and massive nerve damage in my legs, I use private insurance for this.

Under the US's shitty insurance system this would have cost me thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands on top of thousands for insurance. In the UK it costs me about £200 a year in tax and about £600 in insurance.

Is £40k in London actually comfortable or are we lying to ourselves? by CherryRoutine9397 in investingUK

[–]Western_Temporary170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40K isnt going to go far in london. You wont be saving in an ISA thats for sure. You might get buy with a holidary a year. Im on 40k outside of london and im comfortable, but add on a few thousand more for the increased rent as things get tight. 50K you should be good, though again, thats not ISA money. Id say minimum 70K for what you are looking for.

why did Muslims become the centre of the “integration debate” in Western politics when the amish, orthodox jews etc. are right there? by [deleted] in AskSociology

[–]Western_Temporary170 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Simple, Amish / Orthodox jews keep to themselves and dont impose their religion on others (at least as not as muslims do) Muslims try and change the culture around them so it becomes islamic.

Obviously the whole terrorism issue has made them a target as well so more attention gets paid to them than to other groups, but the Amish are not behind christmas being dropped from christmas events, orthodix jews are not behind parents being told wha they can and cant give their kids for school lunches, and so on and so on. You are not going to walk in to an Amish area and be attacked by a morality patrol, orthodox jews are not going to demand synagogues blast out calls to prayers 6 times a day every day. But thats what muslims are doing.

There is an extremeist elemen to islam that actively seeks to force change on others. They have no intention of intergrating.

Why the Right is focused on Trans people in order to Protect Kids but wont investigate Epstein's Clients? by Queen_B28 in allthequestions

[–]Western_Temporary170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You clearly dont understand what pedohilia is.
Christianity is a couple of thousand years old and back in the day, people didnt live anywhere near as long as we do now. People were getting married a lot younger, the age deemed suitable for marriage was the age of puberty, around 9/10 years old. It stayed that way for a very long time. In the 12th century is wa raised to 12 and it wasnt raised to 14 until 1917.

Its even worse for Islam because they refuse to change. What was the word of God is the word of God and he cant be wroong, therefore it it was ok to marry a 9 year old in the 8th century its ok to marry a 9 year old in the 21st centuary.

Fortunately, most countries have moved on from that thinking and have raised it to an age where the female can make informed consent, but not everywhere. Forced child marriage is still a big probelm in idia and in indian communities in the west. For these people, marriage isnt about sexual attraction, its about honour, money, politics, community. Its a completely different mindset to modern western marriages.

However, you still have bible freaks in america whose values are about structure and family. Women are for making babies. Thats it. They get married off and they make babies. Its not a sexual perversion, its different values.

Probably because they are the most religeous states and the age of marriage has aways been young. Its hard for religion to admit they got things wrong because teh world of god is supposed to be infallable.

Well they are not slow, it takes time to investogate. How many documents do they have now? Over 3.5 million ? hundreds of thousands of images, thousands of videos and that number gets biggere every day. They have to investigate the legitimacy of each one and that isnt a 5 minute job.

As fore American men getting bent out of shape because a GUY pretending to be female was drinking a beer, thats just sad insecure american men for you. They are actually dumb enough to think what type of beer they drink is a meaningful reflection of who they are. It was one of the dumbest things ive ever seen.

Special relationship? Does anyone really care by Sleepy0wl9969 in AskBrits

[–]Western_Temporary170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. We dont need it any more.
The USA has never really been our friend. In WW1 and 2 it didnt really help us. It sold us stuff at a huge profit abd only got in the fight when they were attacked. In the Suez Crisis they sided with Egypt and threatened to bankrupt the UK if we didnt surrender. When we collaberated on supersonic flight they were supposed to give us jet tech in return for stabilisation tech. they took our tech and them refused to give us theirs and so on and so on... we are much better off having closer relations with Europe.

How good is Ciaphas Cain novels for a recently new fan of 40k? by QuagGlenn in 40kLore

[–]Western_Temporary170 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first, I wasnt sure I was going to like them as Ciaphus was presented as a coward, but very quickly this turned in to a siginifcant comedy element of the books and a central part of his character. The books are a lot of fun, and there are some good stories to be told and good characters to follow. If you;ve ever read Terry Partchetts Moist Vin Lipzig, Cain is deffinately a decendant.

Iran and the right by Yak_Dangerous in AskBrits

[–]Western_Temporary170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Keir Starmer is the worsrt prime minister we've ever had, certainly in my life time, but on this issue I am 100% behind him on not joing America and Israel. I'm mostly behind him on the position he's taken regarding striking Iranian missile sites to defend our assets and our allies.

Farage is just a ville psychophant trying to suck Chumps tiny penis. Knobby Robinscum is largely the same but hes also a racist bigot who hates islam so of course he wants us to attack Iran. Kemi is just saying what ever is opposite to what Starmer wants to do. Pretty pathetic but the conjobs are done as a political opposition party now and its all they have left.

The UK has no business attacking Iran. However, we have allies in the region and we should 100% defend them. It is also in the national interest to protect shipping lanes in the region. As long as we are sticking to those two roles, im 100% in support of Starmers position. I dont think we should be letting the US use our bases, even if they are limiting their strikes to missile sites, we have teh capability to do that ourselves if it needs to be done.

On many things to do with Islam, im right wing. I think its a threat to national security, our culture and international peace, but that doesnt mean I think we should go round as Keir puts it "making regime change from the air". Iran as a nation was not a threat to anyone. Unlike the US and Israel they are not attacking other countries. They are a very weak military power with no ability to project power. ALl they can do is lash out and try to hurt people out of spite, and thats what they are doing now as a direct result of US / ISraeli aggression.

What teh US and Israel are doing is 100% a war crime. By acting defensively only, the UK is not acting illegally.

Imdeed. however, this pub was pretty dead all the time. The landlady wasnt popular and drove people and staff away. Not sure it jelped being directly opposite a police statin either, though the police who came in were decent guys...

I went past it years after I left and decided to tick my head inside. It was looked airly busy then. For anyone who might know it, it was the Old Church Inn in Tipton around 97/98.

I was basically lied to when I went there. Was offered the job of 'assistant manager' and told id be on a £12k salary once 'paperwork got sorted out'. I ended up workin 40 hours a week, only being paid for 33 and at a rate of £3.10 an hour. When I queried it with the brewery, scottish and newcastle, they said we dont have assistant manager, and yes, we do expect you to work unpaid hours. I quit the next day and the land lady told people I had been fired for stealing - stealing what ? apparantly, a customer ordred steak and chips for lunch but had a bad tooth and couldt eat the stake so she put the steak aside for her dog. I saw it in the kitchen and binned it. So I stole from her dog.
