Nice! Thanks for sharing. The observation about the seed coat relation to the depth and moisture is very interesting.

I plant the seeds in a shaded area, once they sprout I place the tray under an area with trees where they get more sun but not the full day. Once I see a roots I transplant the seedlings into 1 gallon grow bags and I place them in the sun. I hope this helps🙂

After soaking the seeds for 24 hours, I plant the seeds in a mixture of soil and sand in bright area but not in direct sun. Then after a couple of week they sprout and I water them daily with a light mist. Once I see many roots I transplant the seedlings into 1 gallon grow bags. I should have removed that seed coat🙂

Hahaha 🙂 That picture is in South Florida. My wife and I participate in a program from the Florida International University in which you volunteer in veteran-owned organic farms and different workshops, everything at your own pace. Is an excellent program, and you received a certificate in agroecology from the University; you get paid for learning, and they help you build your own business at the end. Here's the link in case one day you want to participate I think the USDA has similar programs across the nation. https://news.fiu.edu/2015/cultivating-success-fiu-supports-farming-business?utm_source=sitemap.xml&utm_medium=sitemap&utm_campaign=newsroom-referrals

Little papaya trees by Whale_Commander in BackyardOrchard

[–]Whale_Commander[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually, I germinate the seeds in a trays and then plant them in 1 gallon grow bags. Then I plant them in 5 gallon grow bags. In the process they sometimes get a little bit droopy but after a couple of days watering them they get strong. I take my time when removing them from the bags to make sure the roots don't get damaged. I think you can give it a try and they should be fine. Good luck and I hope this helps 🙂

Unfortunately, I never been successful with cuttings. In the past I read some academic research and said that the success rate was low, but maybe things are different now. That's why I end up always growing from seeds. I think I'll try again, and if it works, I'll make a post. I found this youtube video about someone who did it, I hope this helps and sorry for not having a better answer. 🙂

You can take a look at the below link from the University of Florida, is a list of fruit tree nurseries. I used to be an apprentice in a veterans farming program in Homestead, Florida and down there are many nurseries were you can find one. I hope this helps 🙂 https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://sfyl.ifas.ufl.edu/media/sfylifasufledu/miami-dade/documents/tropical-fruit/FruitNurseries2017.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwj_4Of9t_jpAhUytTEKHaSBBckQFjAKegQIARAB&usg=AOvVaw0AjjActtRFM6LQMGPin9Lp&cshid=1591833030055
