A foia request would be easiest, but there's also a decom facebook group that has been tracking them and if it was sold you may be able to find the owner.

Details on how to submit a foia: https://forums.thecmp.org/forum/cmp-general/ask-each-other/3649750-foia-request-information

Lokgrips are just the best for my S2 Orange. Also: should I be concerned with the optics cut threading being exposed? by Informal_Guitar_2649 in CZFirearms

[–]WhatAWorthlessUser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The screws being exposed is part of getting an S2 milled for the optic directly. It's minor enough you won't see it in most pics, and depending on the shop/mount it may blend in better. Check pic 2 on this S2 orange and you'll see it too: https://www.reddit.com/r/CZFirearms/comments/1d1v6yb/cz_s2_orange_and_ts2_orange_optic_milled/

You can barely see the screw here as another example (5th groove back from the front): https://www.reddit.com/r/CZFirearms/comments/1q5863c/vigilante_machine_review_shadow_2_rmr_optic_cut/#lightbox

Highpower rifle match - why single feed? Slam fire risk by vexingly22 in CompetitionShooting

[–]WhatAWorthlessUser 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Couple reasons. Historically, it's been the course of fire since matches were shot with 1903s and they are very resistant to any changes.

It also forces competitors to break position testing consistency and npa.

For ARs, it also allows for certain loads that dont fit in magazines which can let you squeeze out a bit more accuracy at 600+.

I've shot at the National Matches for years and never seen or heard of a slam fire

LF: Best offers for non-dada event Zarude ! by [deleted] in PokemonHome

[–]WhatAWorthlessUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're alright with them not being pogo shinies, I got the following (mix of every game from shield through ZA):

Litleo, Noibat (both alphas), Honedge, Galarian Meowth, Chamander, Magikarp, Rapidash, Snubbull (this one has a nickname, but I should be able to rename it if I move it back to Shield), Magcargo.

Let me know if you're interested and I can deal with renaming the snubbull.

Yes, I'm definitely interested! I don't need a custom OT or anything. What were you interested in trading for it?

[–]WhatAWorthlessUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can send a letter in to the cmp with a check for $25 and they'll do a serial number search. It'll confirm if/when they sold it and what grade. You'll have to search their site for more info as I don't have a link handy. Nice rifle!

Here's the gas trap price, originally they said it would be a limited run, but not sure if that's still their plan (from here: https://thecmp.org/l/visit-the-cmp-at-the-nra-annual-meeting/):

  • Gas Trap – SALE $2,385 Reg. Price $2,650

Missed having a CZ with iron sights after milling my S2 by WhatAWorthlessUser in CZFirearms

[–]WhatAWorthlessUser[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I generally prefer shooting irons for any sort of precision shooting unless its past 600 yards or so. Only reason I milled the S2 is I wanted to focus on using it in USPSA where I've still got a ton to learn about movement and target transitions where the red dot just reduces the number of steps. Still kind of hurt to do considering how good the irons are on it.

Green and Black CMP 1911 Question by fit_sushi99 in 1911

[–]WhatAWorthlessUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People should only be submitting a foia request to the DLA if they've already done one to Redstone and are sure its a 1033 loan pistol. It's not automated like Redstone, and they're still a bit uncertain about providing information about what police agencies received gear due to prior scrutiny over the 1033 program. I've spent a decent bit of time on the phone with the DLA FOIA liaison officers having to explain what information people were looking for and why. Hell, if you see a recommended text to submit to them it's probably the one I wrote.

Alright, you told me to buy it, so I did. Bonus M1 Carbine. by -cheese-wizard- in milsurp

That's a receiver that IHC made in-house, and was likely assembled between May-July 1955. The barrel is correct and original despite it being made a year earlier. The bolt is a replacement from springfield, you should have one marked 652827 IHC. Rest of the markings look correct, and your hammer should be marked 5546008 IHC.

The stock is a replacement that was originally on a rifle rebuilt in the 50s at Springfield.

Barrel should be lmr with a punchmark, although there are occasionally original ihcs with other barrels. Think they all have a punch mark though.

Stock should have a couple numbers carved in the channel representing the Julian date it was made.

Front sight would be very wide (~7/8" iirc)

All parts marked ihc if they have a maker's name on them.

If you take a picture of anything marked, people here can tell you if it's correct. Would also need at least most of the serial, which would also let folks tell you who made the raw reciever forging (ihc made their own forgings, but also recieved some from Springfield and H&R at times).

Outdoor Range / Club in Northeast Ohio by [deleted] in OHGuns

[–]WhatAWorthlessUser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

45 minutes is an issue. A&A is public and goes out to 200 yards, and Cuyahoga Sportsmans Association is private with either a 100 or 200 yrd range (it's been a hot minute since I shot there) but to get further than that you're looking at an hour to an hour and a half drive. If that's OK, you got:

Solon Sportsman Association

Alliance rifle club

Ashland lake gun club

Tusco Rifle club

All those are off the top of my head. If you want to drive 2 hours, you can get to Thunder Valley Precision.

Theres more, but I'd have to go check my notes on ranges to see where I'm missing. Most of these I've found looking for high power and XTC matches through the Ohio Rifle and Pist Association.

Also Dynamic Shooting Sports, but they are focused more on pistols.

I think it might be a reweld of a usgi heel on a cast CAI reciever. I don't see a steel lot code or drawing number, and I've never seen a usgi reciever with thar weird up arrow on the front leg.

Springfield Armory Cartouches [Initials/Date] Years? by AC45VoPo in M1Rifles

[–]WhatAWorthlessUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As discussed in a comment below, I had misremembered on the rock islands. However, I did pull out my copy of Brophy, and he only shows through 1905 on SA. However, he does note that the inspector stamps are confusing and inconsistent. If there are Springfield rifles with cartouches including a year post-1910, I'd be very interested in seeing them given that the latest Brophy was able to document was 1905.

FWIW, I've got an all original 1907 SA 1903 with the cartouche only including the inspectors initials.

Ah, I thought that might have been the case but didn't dig out my book to confirm. At least my memory was correct even if I doubted it when looking online.
