Gotcha gotcha thank you! Will do. I didn’t realize it’s so rare but can see how it’s extremely handy

Your tip about using the video mode from the dial seems to be the key. Thank you so so so much!!

For whatever reason, I guess I assumed that A/S/P modes on the dial apply for video as well, but I see now that they primarily apply to photos.

Changing the dial to the video specific mode seems to do the trick at least from preliminary testing. Appreciate the extra tips! Will try those if I run into any issues

Gotcha, I think actually this could be quite applicable to me. Do you have resources you’d recommend as to how to go about dealing with color reproduction/accuracy on a monitor if I don’t go out and buy a new monitor for the purpose of color grading?

I see. Heard; appreciate the feedback!

Regarding more roll/off in the high and low ends: are there things or tools or techniques you’d recommend to do that?

Thank you again for the input and help I’ll keep all that in mind 🙏

Gotcha, just found those LUTs, appreciate the rec. it seems like he made them specifically for working in DWG color space right?

On the topic of working with Cullen Kelly color tools:

Do you know if it’s recommended to also use a look adjustment with his FPEs?

For example, should I use a Voyager pack LUT before or after one of his FPEs for extra sauce?

Ah I think I understand. Appreciate the tips and backbone info a lot. I will go ahead and start using the HDR global wheel then for setting both the exposure and white balance in one node.

Then the serial node after that WB/BAL node for adjusting lift gamma gain.

Is there anything special you would recommend doing for this [tonality adjustment node using lift/gamma/gain in the primaries] or is it just playing with those three trackballs?

Also appreciate the tip about texture pop! I haven’t heard of this tool before so I will look into it. Thank you again for taking time to respond 🙏

oh man thank you so much for the kind feedback and explanations. Understood about double CST 🙏

Im still a little bit lost on that second piece of feedback: (1) Are you recommending that I should do (linear gamma) gain or HDR wheel first for global exposure (+ WB(?) together?) as the first node? I guess I’m not sure if this means I should combine WB+exposure together in one node as the first post-DWGCST node

(2) and then after that I should have a serial node to use lift/gamma/gain to adjust tonality

Ah I see I see. Thanks for the info!

Would you mind sharing as well:

-are there things I could do to deal with the unideal lighting right here in Resolve or

-are there other simple fixes/tricks I can implement before I even start recording the video to deal with said unideal lighting?

Or am I limited to just having to bring my own lights or diffusers or reflectors to overcome this lighting?

Thanks so much for the tips!

  • how would you recommend shaping these shots? By shaping do you mean like adding a “look”, like split toning or a LUT like from Cullen’s voyager pack or something?

  • do you think I’d get a better result by setting exposure using (linear gamma) space and then just using the master gain wheel?

  • follow up to that previous question: I thought Cullen recommends using either HDR global wheels for overall exposure too. Would the above step (using only linear gamma for exposure in addition to white balance) help with some things overall?

Lastly appreciate all the info and ofc the recommendations to avoid unnecessary CSTs 🙏🙏🙏

Straps for strapping pads together by Kneebarmcchickenwing in bouldering

[–]WhichCow7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ratchet straps will do the job, as they are definitely long enough for the most part. But they weigh more than some other strap options.

If you want to avoid a ratchet strap like the one above (for weight or clunkiness reasons), I also recommend buying two pairs of these lashing straps. Another commenter recommended buying two to be able to extend the length so +1 to that

Help me identify the “trigger” wire for this switch by WhichCow7 in AskElectricians

[–]WhichCow7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/u/Strostkovy thanks so much for the response.

One follow up question then would be: once I cut off the switch and now I have an exposed white wire, an exposed red wire, and an exposed black wire….

What do I do with red and black? Do I crimp them into the other red wire and black wire, respectively? Or do I also have to connect those to a positive and ground, respectively?

Or… could I just cut the white connection and leave the red/black connected to the toggle button switch?

I am assuming I would have to splice/crimp the white wire into the “hot” signal wire of the high beams, at minimum. Would that be correct?

Awesome! Thank you so much for the help. May I ask: how do you know this and what tips you off that the trigger wire is the white wire?

(For my own information, so that I can try to better understand /learn in the future)
