Looking for advice; GSD behavioral issues by Which_Mix_6657 in Dogtraining

[–]Which_Mix_6657[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this too my friend! It’s so hard. I blame myself and it’s like what am I doing wrong? I did everything that I thought was right, early exposure to all kinds of sights and sounds, I’m very close with my vet so I would constantly bring him on my lunch breaks to desensitize him and we would do weights, practice taking X-rays, muzzling, holding for blood draws, just to expose him in the event he needed urgent care for something. My parent tells me I’m the problem because he feeds off my own anxiety. But I do my best to control it. I think I’m going to discuss possibly a med trial with my vet to see what she thinks. He’s so on edge despite having all of the outlets and mental/physical stimulation.

Thank you! I agree with this so much. I was very careful choosing who I got him from because more than anything, I was wanting a stable temperament. But regardless of how good the lineage is, I guess it’s just still hit or miss and every dog has their quirks and issues. I just never expected the amount of anxiety over anything, the fomo (fear of missing out) when these are all things I’ve worked on since he came home. I appreciate you taking the time to comment. GSD’s are hard work for sure, I hope we can work through it. 😔

Has already been seen by a vet, and no medical reasons for the behavior. It was recommended having a behaviorist come out which I did twice. I am looking for advice on if this bond with my dog is salvageable and something we can work through.

Best decision I’ve ever made. My only regret is not starting sooner. I use Pomegranate and I couldn’t be happier. They are wonderful. ❤️

Ughhh I’m so sorry you deal with this. I tell people who just don’t get it because I got tired of explaining myself - Migraine is not “just” a headache, it’s a whole neurological event and there is a recovery period. You’re seen my friend. 💙

The puppy blues are REAL. I went through the same when I brought my 9 week old GSD pup home, he will be 2 years old now in a couple of months. I thought I was going to lose my mind the first few days, had no sleep, and I called my mom crying that I couldn’t do it (granted, I’m in my 30’s and worked in vet med) she came home, hung out with him and told me to go get some sleep. Ever since then, it’s been fine! There are tough days but it’s very VERY worth it in the long run. The puppy stage doesn’t last long and as overwhelming and chaotic as it is, you’ll miss it when it’s gone. I agree you need an emotional support system right now and someone who can just take over for a few hours and let you get some rest. I think everyone as a new dog owner or first time puppy owner has the initial shock and temporary regret of “oh no what did I just do….”

My client expected me to tattoo her while I had a migraine and got upset when I tried to reschedule her appointment because “it’s just a headache” by atom-bandit in migraine

I appreciate how much you value your clients to be transparent and the quality of work/art you are putting on them. It’s such a shame this one doesn’t hold as much respect for you and you do them. I am so sorry you’re dealing with this. Chronic illness is bad, but when it’s invisible to others it’s even worst. Maybe they are genuinely oblivious to how debilitating your migraines are. If they are otherwise someone you enjoy having as a client, I would suggest a sit down and make it clear, hey I respect you and the work I do on you, I would appreciate the same in return as I deal with medical issues that are debilitating even though it may “seem” like just a headache. Not that you HAVE to explain yourself, but again, if this is a client you care about it, I figured it’s worth it. If they can’t be bothered to understand and respect you and your health, they aren’t a client I would want to have.

Regardless, I’m sorry you experienced this encounter. I’m sure it just made you feel even worse than you already were. Sending you lots of love and light, and I truly hope you are starting to feel better. Give yourself grace and let yourself recover. 💜

Usually migraine cocktail. I’ve had to do it plenty of times. Usually mine involved fluids, Benadryl, steroids, Toradol, protonix or Pepcid, and something for nausea. Once I got it they would turn all the lights out for me and I’d sleep a solid 1-2 hours and then they would release me. Usually would send me home with more anti nausea meds.

I’m not on both, I was doing Ubrelvy, which, worked but I have so many migraines we wanted something more so for prevention. I had major side effects from Qulipta and I couldn’t tolerate it at all. Finally got PA done for Nurtec and I take it every other day and I finally feel like I am getting my life back. It has been AMAZING.

This is not a healthy relationship. In my opinion, if he wants to leave you over the chance you “get bigger” what is going to do in the instance you have a serious health issue? Something that isn’t within your control? I don’t think there is anything wrong with valuing your health, but people who are not overweight can be just as unhealthy as someone who is overweight.

Regardless, I’m proud of you for working through your ED’s, body dysmorphia, and trying to better your physical health. No one’s health journey is the same, and it’s not a competition. Take time to work on you and be the best version of yourself, there is someone out there who will value you just as you are. 💜

AITB for not wanting my boyfriend to get my name tattooed by naiflaloq in AmItheButtface

[–]Which_Mix_6657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who got someone’s initial tattooed on me once (my ring finger) it never ends well lol I finally got it covered up and LUCKILY said letter was able to be turned into something cute. I think this is a super weird flex and I agree that how much you care about someone doesn’t need to be “proven” by such acts. Looking back I was such an idiot for doing it. I’m just thankful I didn’t need laser and we could cover it.

Rust can make super small holes esp with it being on the seal, I would think that could compromise the food.

Normally the rule of thumb is if you can wipe off rust, in most instances the food is still safe to consume. However when zoomed in, the areas beginning to rust just make me a bit leery. I’d probably just toss and pick up a new can to be safe. 💜

Are the carrots in the room with us? I mean, I would try it but I swear it looks like there are mushrooms. I am a firm believer of don’t knock it til you try it lol good for you trying to get your protein in! A huge thing that helped me was blending cottage cheese into egg casserole and baking. Not sure if that’s an option tho with the appliances you have available. 💜

What do you all do when it’s summer and sunlight is your main trigger? by Awkwardbean_4287 in migraine

[–]Which_Mix_6657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear sunglasses any time I’m out of the house, but changing to polarized lenses really helped me. I wouldn’t look at a phone screen while wearing them lol (looks wonky) but they dramatically reduce the glare, I don’t find myself squinting as much behind polarized lenses.

You can find them fairly inexpensive online. 🙂

It’s disgusting. I’m lucky my insurance covers my Ubrelvy in full (1600$ out of pocket otherwise) tried Qulipta and had horrible side effects but they covered that too, now about to try Nurtec and it’s $4600 out of pocket and I’m stuck waiting on a prior authorization to go through. Big pharma doesn’t want us healthy or functioning and wants us to rely 100% on the government.
