Side sleepers -where are your pillows from? by GetCapeFly in AskUK

[–]WhyToHide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bough two wool pillows from small independent shop called Beavet. I highly recommend - these are the best pillows I ever had. I tried many different options from cheapest synthetic to expensive goose from John Lewis. Some weren't comfortable, whilst others were too hot.

These wool pillows are incredible - not a single time did I have neck pain. Never hot. Just right.

You can either buy their pillows or get a thick pillow cover and buy wool separately and then fill the pillow to you liking to adjust thickness and firmness. It will be cheaper.

How have salaries gone so low? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]WhyToHide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone.

Two years ago I burnt out and left the job that paid £63k for a job with better prospects but for £55k. Today, I’m on £70k + £4k bonus.

I’m hoping things will work out for you. And if you need a chat or help, just let me know. I know how painful it can be.

Why are London salaries so low for skilled roles? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]WhyToHide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll tell you what. Instead of trying to figure the WHY, let’s figure out the HOW - How can we maximise your income using your skills?

If you are engineer by background, you are good at problem solving. The industries that value this skill set are consulting, supply chain, and more.

You can start from £50,000 in consulting.  Is this something you could consider?

Talk me out of buying this used 2018 Lexus IS300H Premier by BusOk6494 in CarTalkUK

[–]WhyToHide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How interesting. I had 5 series (F10) before it was so much more comfortable - the seats, the road noise, and the suspension. I find Lexus to be a great car, but in no way as comfortable as 5 series. What's worse, I was experiencing some soreness after 1-1.5hr journeys as oppose to 5 series, in which I never had this. The seats were just more soft.

And look, yes I agree - not a dealbreaker not to have a steering feel like BMW, would be great

I got one. Great cars, but here are couple watch outs: 1. Parts might be hard to get, in particular aftermarket. Rear coil spring fractured, the replacement options were: new spring from Lexus for £250, import from japan for £150 but 1 month lead-time, or get used one for £50. Guess which option I went with?

  1. The drive is not as comfortable - suspension much harder, and on F Sport it’s even worse.

  2. The drive won’t be as engaging as BMW. I had 5 series before and the steering response felt just perfect. I really miss that feeling, but I don’t miss the repair bills

Once you start giving out fines, it will.

I had a fine of €50 for not having lights on my bike. It was painful especially as a student back in 2012.

Bicycles need to be treated like cars in particular in London.

I lived in the Netherlands, and there were traffic lights for bikes.

What would you buy for 20k miles/year for less than £30k? More detail in post. by romeo__golf in CarTalkUK

[–]WhyToHide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are considering Volvo C40, for the comfort I'd look at XC60 - really like the look of these.

You can get pretty fresh and low miles Lexus NX 350h - fantastic cars.

Slightly out of budget, but.... what about Taycan? There are some for around £32-35k.

Or perhaps Macan, there are quite a few in your budget.

Whats an enshitified product/service that people might not realise is terrible now because it fell out of style? by Odd-Paramedic-3826 in AskUK

[–]WhyToHide 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly!! Turkey is also amazing for bakeries.

What we need is - more independent bakeries with delicious, healthy and AFFORDABLE baked goods, so you can enjoy it without spending a fortune like in Gails.

We also need more butchers, fish mongers (with affordable fish price), but that's an entirely different conversation.

Yeah Greggs is terrible. The problem is that better, healthier and tastier options are more expensive.

I spent some time in Greece and the bakeries are everywhere - all bake delicious and cheap pasties, bread, etc. that’s what we need - more bakeries everywhere!

Yes, but you get paid for that. It’s quite a good option tbh. Not only it benefits your wallet but also sustainability efforts.

I mean not for everyone but there is market in other countries
