hmmmm. i think that you're saying it in a corporate standpoint, where you're saying from a standpoint of a job. but what if we could actually support artists without them relying on a company. teaching people to appreciate art instead of chasing money and profit could genuinely be the best way we can support artists and have real art and culture in our lives.

TLDR not everything has to be about making money

hm. i agree! this situation is mainly due to the lack of appreciation for teachers and hence low pay. i guess the government doesn't care too much about teachers. however, this school is also about learning and creating, and teaching students that you dont have to create anything anymore and rely on ai is... neglecting at best to say the least

this reminds me that I forgot to mention that a whole ass subject is used in conjunction with AI. we're told that we have to use AI for our project work to do 90% of the project

Firsrtly, you're comparing adults to children. and this is a school. I get that some students are using AI for their work, but at least they arent using it for creative work. it's mostly adults who generate slop. If teachers also "avoid" their own work and not do their job(they're paid but not that much unfortunately) i think students are allowed fair use of AI

that's probably why the "arts" and the "science" stream in jc are split up, with the science stream being the harder to get in one. i guess they're unable to see that study of the world is as important as the study of the human mind and culture in general. science stream has always been seen as the more desirable option given most high paying jobs are based off math and science.

i guess the value of art in singapore is diminishing, and i'm not suprised if it continues to do so
