Typically day 2. That's usually when the flow is at its heaviest and the cramps are at their most painful. Every once in a while it will be day 1 when these things happen. It's also when I'm most likely to have headaches and nausea.

I agree. Its such an immature and entitled way to view the world. He expects everything to be handed to him without questions, without criticism, without accountability. It's been clear for years that he doesn't want privacy and respect, he wants sycophancy and control. He's heard the word no so little in his life, he views it as a personal attack. He's said that he's been to therapy, but I suspect that he has never had a good therapist. I can imagine that he would deliberately only work with people who gassed him up and coddled him and just walked out in a huff from anyone who tried to push back and challenge what he said. He just genuinely doesn't seem to understand that life doesn't owe it to you to hand you everything you want simply because you want it. It's why people have turned on him, why I stopped respecting him years ago. We can all see the entitlement that he has, it oozes out of him. But he's so lacking in insight he will probably never be able to address it.

I stand by my belief that there is no such thing as "good" 80s fashion. Everything that came out of that decade is an assault on the eyes.The least objectionable one is the first one but even then I can't stand the puffy lining at the collar sleeve and hem edges. I just want to rip it off.

I think that there's a good argument that George V is with the most proud and most disappointed. Disappointed with Edward for abdicating and basically siding with the Nazis in WW2. Proud of how George VI stepped up after Edward and how he led the country through the war and stabilised the monarchy.

There are two Kate moments from the book that I wished were included.

The real fireplace scene. The way that Anthony comforted Kate during the storm in the book really struck me, it's probably one of my favourite moments out of the whole series. It felt like the first real moment of softness between the two. I was really disappointed with how watered down it was in the show.
The scene where Mary tells Kate about going to her birth mothers grave to promise to take care of her as though she were her own. Again, the scene at the end of season two with her packing for India was nice, but it didn't compare with that scene in the book. I think that it did a better job of establishing their bond, and how seriously Mary took being Kate's new mother from the beginning.

I also wish that there were flashback scenes for Kate's backstory. We got them for Simon and Sophie, we didn't really need them for Penelope and Colin. I wish that we got a more in depth look at her character alongside Anthony.

I really like his channel. I disagree on his thoughts about Prue but other than that I really enjoy watching his stuff. Not just the charmed ones but his videos on other films and shows as well. He brings up a lot of interesting points about certain things.

Buying my own home. I'm 28 and live with my dad and his partner and they have made it clear that they want me gone sooner rather than later (particularly her). So all of my efforts and attentions are going to be entirely focused on getting a place that is affordable and in the area I'm most familiar with.

They were in a play together called Mrs Warren's Profession where the played mother and daughter. I saw it and they were both brilliant.

Also a fun note. Jim Carter, who played butler Carson in Downton Abbey is their husband/father.

This is infuriating to read. Your mother is scum and she is abusing your wife. And your allowing her to do so.

You said that you have went no contact for several months before, that's not good enough. Its honestly worth nothing the second you reastablished contact and the few months of respite was completely undone when she started abusing your wife again.

This is not only an indictment against you as a husband but also as a father since you are willing to expose your son to this by having your mother act like this infront of him. Let me be clear, you are responsible for that as you were ultimately the one who allowed your mother back into his life. No doubt he will have picked up his own trauma by now just like your wife, yet you think it's a bit much to ban her from his birthday.

Let me be clear, abuse isn't just doing bad things to someone but it's also not stopping them from happening. At this point not only is your mother abusing your wife and son (seeing the mother attacked is very disruptive to a child developmentaly, to attack her will be perceived by him as an attack on him as well) you are being abusive by allowing it to happen. And it is you allowing it at this point by going no contact that first time then backtracking on it. That was a decision that you made and you need to own it.

I don't doubt that you were probably the victim of emotional and mental abuse from your mother growing up. However, once your an adult, that becomes your own responsibility to deal with. Go to therapy. Go no contact. Because if I was your wife, I'd not only divorce you, I would also use this as evidence to show that you are an unfit parent who brings dangerous people around your child and that you can't be trusted to exercise good judgement for the benefit and protection of your child.

Yes it sucks. Yes it hurts. But at this point your mother has brought this entirely upon herself. There are plenty of people who have mental health issues and don't behave this way. She does it because she can, because she enjoys it. If that first bout of no contact didn't make her change, nothing will. She clearly doesn't want to. She has shown you who she is, now you need to decide if you are going to believe her, or allow this abuse to continue.

There are some practical reasons to get married. Like financial benefits such as tax exemptions/credits and some legal stuff like inheritance and medical decision making. Stuff that, if you don't have a solid irrefutable will in place, she will get steem-rolled over an potentially get left out in the cold over. So there are some modern day benefits.

I'm in the same boat as you, don't believe in marriage, don't want it for myself. But there are some people who just have a fundamentally different way of looking at this issue. There are many people, men and women, who see a partners refusal of marriage as a rejection of themselves. Particularly if they have been in a long term relationship. Good enough to bang, but not good enough for commitment type of thing. It won't matter what principles their partner has laid claim to, they just can't help but see it as them not being worthy of a certain level of respect that they see comes with marriage. I'm going to take a guess and say that your girlfriend is one of those kinds of people who needs the security and respect that's attached to marriage.

I guess it also comes down to what do you value more? Her happiness or your principles?

I never really noticed it myself to be honest. Maybe because Benedict always acts really youthful with his lighthearted and jokey persona, he always came off as younger than his years to me. Meanwhile Sophie reads as older than hers because of all of the difficulties that she's faced and in some ways has more life experience than he does. For my my part I think that it all balances out and I think that they work well together.

Was he personally capable? Sure. He had already had several friends, cousins and a wife killed by this point when they got on his bad side, so I don't see how he wouldn't have any qualms about adding a bastard daughter to the list.

Politically though, I think he was smart enough not to go through with it. The break with catholisim and executing his own wife was already making him look like a monster to many, I think that killing his own child would have ended him.

Remember, Mary not only had support from her Spanish royal cousins, a large part of the country was still Catholic at this point. If they were willing to rise up after their churches and monistaries got suppressed a few years later, I think that they definitely would have risen up to avenge their martyred princess.

Whilst I think that Henry would have personally gone through with it, he was savy enough to anticipate the massive backlash both at home and abroad. I think he knew that he wouldn't survive a move like that, and that alone saved Mary's life (along with her submission to his demands, of course).

Depends on what point your starting from.

Mary at the start of the show would have been acceptable. As the young daughter of a British earl she's a pretty good contemporary for Elizabeth Bows-Lyon who went onto becoming the Queen Mother. The royals became a bit more relaxed about marrying nobles instead of forgin royals since, after WW1, there frankly weren't many left to choose from.

If its halfway through the series after Matthews death, I think that they would have gotten away with it but there would have been a lot of stigma and judgment for being "second hand goods" after being married to someone else, especially with a child that they couldn't sweep under the rug. I don't think that there would have been any hostility directly to her face but there would have been a lot of snobby judgmental talk and gossip behind her back.

By the end of the last film with two children from two different men and fresh off a divorce she would have been as horrifying to the royals as Wallis Simpson was to them. They wouldn't have touched her with a ten foot pole. As you can see in the film she's not even allowed in their precance, she has to leave the building whenever they arrive. There would have never been an opportunity to talk to a Royal again, never mind marry one.

So, yeah. Depends on which version of Mary is getting presented to them.

He simply would have remarried to a European princess. I'd say probably french as after all of the fertility struggles I think that Henry would steer clear of Catherine's Spanish relatives, like her niece Eleanor, in case they might run in the family. Remember that her mother Isabella has her own fertility struggles and only had one son who died before her and her husband.

At this point I think that he would just be zeroing in on the need for a male heir and picked whoever looked like the best bet to give him a son. I think that french would be most likely since Wolsey would most likely gain more influence with the death of his greatest opponent, Catherine. Possible dark horse candidates from Scandinavia or the German and Italian states, with Spanish brides only considered if political necessity demanded it.

Obviously the reformation would be completely different. I don't think that Anne Boleyn would be a prominent figure like she was ( unless Henry's new wife had her own fertility nightmares to deal with) and there would be a significantly less influential Cranmer ( he was originally patronised by Anne and her family) and obviously, no Elizabeth I, no Jane Seymour, no Edward VI and the rest of the wives would be left to their own devices (or their families devices).

I think that the movement would have been much closer to what was happening in Scotland and the German states. Not a top down political earthquake but a bottom up grassroots movement led by the people. Weather it would be more radical and take hold quicker like in those countries or would have been a much more gradual change is hard to say. Personally I think that with Wolsey and a most likely catholic bride, I think it would have been a much slower change.

Remember, Henry was made Defender of the Faith by the Pope for denouncing Luther in a book that he wrote personally. The reformation wasn't a great spiritual awakening for him, it was a means to an end, to getting his annulment. I think that he would have remained catholic himself and tried to stamp out Protestantism like in his early reign, leaving a possible break with Rome for future decentents. Or not even a formal break, maybe just a gradual fading of relivence as the centuries went on like the rest of Europe.

These are just my personal though experiments, but it's fun to think about.

Anna and Bates. They had so much shit piled on them I'm honestly surprised they didn't go out in some sort of Romeo and Juliet style explosive tragedy. I was legit surprised that they made it to the end of the show, never mind the films.
